*Click* *Clack* *Clack.* The sound of controllers fills my ears. The only expression I could see on every player’s face was determination. The desire to prove themselves burned brightly. I turn to meet the box of color that displayed the game I love to play. I thought to myself, “Did I practice enough? How should I play this out? I absolutely have to win!” As these thoughts raced through my mind, I give my opponent a good luck, and press start. “3, 2, 1, Go!” Suddenly, the fictional characters displayed come to life and all of my concentration switches to this game. Back then, I could rarely beat that one friend I would constantly play with. Regardless, I never gave up. Even though losing is frustrating, it is what drives me to practice even more so that I can improve. Perseverance is a special trait because it was what kept me from giving up, and because of it, I have long since surpassed my friend. Currently, that perseverance has carried over to the tournaments that I enter. Even if I lose, I choose to get back up, keep playing, and try again. I have the determination and desire to defeat the players who are ranked above me. When I finally beat them, or win the tournament, the satisfaction from proving myself is the best reward I could ever receive. I am currently ranked sixth in Hawaii, and it was because of my perseverance that I was able to achieve that. Perseverance is what allows me to not give up, and to keep looking forward. I learned how valuable perseverance is because of video games. Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U is one of my favorite games that has taught me the importance of this. Many people show perseverance, including me. I showed perseverance when I failed a quiz and I knew to get my grade up I had to work harder and study more. I knew if my parents found out that I failed a quiz they would yell at me and would be disappointed on me for getting a bad grade on a quiz because I didn’t study. As two-a-days started everyone was excited to get through and get to play our first football game. As the season progressed I started feeling pains in my shoulder constantly; a few weeks go by with the pain continously getting worse. I will never forget my first season of competitive golf, averaging in the upper ninety’s and by the end of this season I was averaging in the low ninety's which qualified me for the first round of the post season. This event was the Mid-Penn championship, held at Armitage golf course.
