Think about what it would be like to be forced to live in a jungle with barely any source of entertainment or technology and all a person can think about is how they will survive. It is a natural instinct to want to survive in these kinds of conditions or in any kind of conditions. This is where perseverance comes in as an essential quality to human beings. It is important for people to be determined in order to live. There are very few people who can still be determined to accomplish something despite the harsh conditions they are in. People tend to want to make everything happen quickly and easily, that is why most times people end up failing. Being patient is a very important aspect of being determined. Being determined without patience will most likely bring failure. Being patient and achieving success could take up anywhere from days to even years. This is why being determined to be patient and taking things slowly is also important. In The Shawshank Redemption, from the very beginning to the end Andy was always patient. He took his time to get used to the prison he was in, made good friends slowly, and took almost 20 years to escape and get the people who did wrong, their punishment.
