My Learning and Personality Profile
Throughout our lives we start to perceive ourselves, or become aware of something. One of the many things that we start to notice is the many different ways we understand things. There are many different ways of learning, and one must find what preference fit their personality best. To be able to pin point the best learning methods could dramatically change ones own understanding of the subject one is learning about. One way to find out is to answer the MBTI, (Myer-Briggs Type Indicator), questionnaire. Another method of finding your personality type is using the Temperament Theory. They also showed me my weaknesses, which is important to helping me figure out the best methods of studying. My two highest results were Kinesthetic, which was ten, and Visual, which was six. My two lowest results were Aural, which was four, and read/write, which was two. Breaking these results down into simpler terms, I learn best hands on. Kinesthetic is my strongest suit by far. An example of a kinesthetic learner would be someone who must act out the activity to learn it, rather than hearing, or reading instructions. To learn how to make something, I need to physically do it myself for me to fully understand. My second strongest method of learning is Visual. I need to see examples of whatever I am doing. An example of how I use my strongest methods of learning would be in math class. The teacher writes out the problem on the board and solves it. This helps me because I see the problem being done. I later on do the problem myself. Another example of visual is seeing pictures in a book or drawing out diagrams. I can use these two methods to help me study. If I need to memorize words, I use flashcards to write out the information. I will also draw doodles that help remind me of the word. …show more content…
MBTI groups certain ways we humans perceive things. Everybody has a preference to things, knowing what yours are can help get you closer to self-understanding. The first group is Sensing and Intuition. I lean more towards Intuition, this is because I definitely have a hard time memorizing specific facts, while a person who prefers Sensing has a orderly memorization of specific information. As a person whos preference is Intuition, having a study partner in each class who prefers Sensing is helpful. They can help me break down a big idea I get after I read something, and help me find specific information to memorize. Second group is Thinking and Feeling. I strongly lean towards Feeling more than Thinking. This is a big weakness because if a professor is mean or gives off a negative energy while he or she teaching me I will distance myself from not only them, but also to the information they are presenting to me. The information may be vital to passing the class. I need to learn to look past the issues I have with a professor and not make is personal, in the end it will be me that is failing, not them. The third group is Introversion and Extraversion. I am a mix between both, but if I had to pick my preference is would be Extraversion. I definitely get my energy from others around me. I am at my peak when I am with people. I prefer group project and activities. Last group includes Judging and Perceiving. I am
An emerging trend among today’s employers is the increased focus on the personality traits of their employees. Whether that focus is on the ability to hire the right person by predicting job performance, or discovering the right “fit” for an employee in a team, a company’s success may depend on these factors. Creating the right team based for the best success of the team is crucial. However, due to project constraints, abilities, market place, etc, the ability to pair the right individuals may not be available.
I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has recognized my profile as Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking and Judgment (INTJ). As an introvert, I can get nervous among other people. It does not pose a problem for an individual. On the other hand, in order to be an effective leader, it is important for me to keep a profound communicational relationship with my subordinates. Without proper communication skills, it is not possible to establish a functional relationship with my subordinates. This may jeopardize the success of any activity that we are involved in. The introvert part is perhaps the major barrier which may keep me away from being an effective leader.
During my first weeks of college I was given the task of taking a quiz that helps me determines my strengths that will help succeed in my college career and beyond. The online quiz assesses you talents and strengths with which you can develop by reading the book ,Strengths Quest, which explains your abilities. The quiz takes thirty minutes to ask about various topics that determine your top five strengths or “themes of talent”. When I first read the synapsis on the back of the book I was skeptical about the accuracy of the quiz’s ability to determine what I’m like based on one hundred and thirty questions. Once I finished the test I still questioned the truth behind the results, until I read the book. I believe that Strengths Quest is a helpful tool that will help me through my college career. The test determined that my personal talents were: adaptability, learner, input, relator, and intellection. Each attribute is presented in the order of the strongest to the weakest. I feel as though the strengths are accurate because I see the similarities between them and my personality.
Of all IB Learner Profile traits of which IB identifies as important in guiding students to become more “internationally minded”, I believe that I exhibit the Caring Learner Profile trait. People who possess the caring trait should show empathy, compassion and respect. To exemplify caring it means to give service and make a positive difference to the world around us. Whether it is great or slight, caring is the action of showing others that people do care about them.
An 11 years old kid lying on the ground in a dark room crying, shaking, and trembling with intense pain in both of his ears. The pain was similar to as if someone was hitting with some sharp object inside his ears and every time he would feel the shock of pain, he would pull both of his ears while enduring the pain. The pain would raise every couple of second and with each shock of pain, the kid would lose part of the hope that he had of surviving. He would experience so intense pain that he had never anticipated and all he could think of that “he is about to die.” This was the experience that I felt when I had a severe ear infection in both of my ears.
I am always getting to class on time and quite in the class. I do not use phone in class neither talk with friends while the teacher is teaching. I always take a long time to do activities and get hard time to make a decision.
The Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment Online Library contained different assessments that revelead different scores for personality traits and their relation to the workplace. The assessment contained 3 areas of focus, individual evaluation of self, working with others, and life in organizations. After completing the assessments a score was calculated and results were provided. First, I will briefly discuss my results from the various assessments. Organization behavior is important to study in the workplace to understand different behaviors, roles and structure. If we can recognize our strengths, then we can identify our weakness. Identifying our weakness can allow opportunity for us to be effective employees, leaders, and enhancing our
I began to get fascinated by our capitalist world’s economy at a very early age of my life. Growing up, I was incredibly curious to unravel how systems function, and this curiosity developed into a burning desire to learn how processes and organizations operate and run our world. As I started my first job, I realized how much I needed to be better acquainted with the science of money making and the scientific approaches to money management. Later on in my life, being within a company system, I wanted to see the big picture by learning where such a company stands in the midst of all other business interactions locally and internationally. Being involved in the company’s practices I started analyzing the methods used by my managers, the causes and consequences of their managerial choices.
Each person is a created with a blend of traits and characteristics that make us unique and influence how we learn. From the moment we are born, we begin to learn, and the learning process continues throughout our life. How we learn is based on our senses, how our brain processes information, and how we respond to life experiences. Learning types are the foundation of how each person essentially learns. Even when we were completely unaware of it, we were being shaped by our learning types. Learning is most effective when our preferred learning type is used. Understanding how I learn and how my learning type affects me can help me be more effective in adapting to college and life situations.
Kinesthetic-tactile techniques are used in combination with visual and/or auditory study techniques, producing multi-sensory learning” (Academics, 2017: par1). Kinesthetic learners learn best by using their senses and making learning a practical activity (Vark-learn, 2017). These students learn by using their body and working with physical things such as role playing (Ferriman, 2017). For these students the best methods to assist with studying would be to actually fidget while studying. Some of these methods include chewing gum, tapping a foot or pencil and pacing (Academics, 2017). It will often be found that these learners will be good at physical activities such as cooking, painting and sport (Cherry, 2017). The best test for kinesthetic learners would be short definition based questions and multiple choice tests. The worst kind of test would be a long one with limited to no breaks. Tests like these could involve an essay or questions requiring a long answer (Learning Styles,
Introduction to Personality Lillian Tracey Hayes PSY/405 April 26, 2014 Les Binnix. Introduction to Personality The concept of personality is not easy to define. Researchers give examples or perceptions to define the personality; however, there are different theories that explain personality. Personality is what makes each person unique and individual and each person has different patterns of behavior, attitudes, and traits that combine to create personality. There are biological and environmental aspects of life that shape the development of personality and differing perceptions of experiences that contribute to differences between people.
Characteristics a feature or quality belonging to a person, place or thing and serving to identify it. There are many personal characteristics that can define a person as an individual; some characteristics determined if a person is nice, disrespectful, intelligent, or not intelligent but it determines how a person interprets you. I believe that every individual has integrity as one of their characteristics, but my top three characteristics are Integrity, Compassion, and hard-working and for the person who carried me throughout my whole life “my brother” his characteristics would be his responsibility.
Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here.
