Personal Development Planning (PDP) can be defined as a process that helps you to think about your own learning, performance and/or achievements and to plan for your personal, educational and career development (Lboro.ac.uk, 2016). There are five primary methods used to assess the outcomes of a personal development plan such as, Reflection, Recording, Action planning, Exceuting and Evaluating (Lboro.ac.uk, 2016). Furthermore, a SWOT Analysis and a Skills Audit were carried out to identify gaps in order to develop a personal development plan to achieve leadership developments. It is this focus on reflection that of strengths and weaknesses that perhaps typifies the holistic aspirations behind PDP. Kolb’s (1984) cycle of experiential learning is perhaps the one concept with which many of us will be familiar. Often times, I reflect on my personal and professional life to ascertain my future goals and how to achieve same. I am cognizant that advance studies will permit me to achieve my career goals. Evaluating the outcomes of the SWOT Analysis demonstrates that self confidence and determination is my strong point. Executing and evaluating the goals set out in my personal development plan will allow me to execute a description of the development work undertaken, to know if the outcome was achieved in terms of yes or no and map the date the goal achieved against the time frames of the PDP. This creates an opportunity for me to ascertain if I am tracked in accomplishing my goals and implement remedial action to obtain my targets.
