A personal accomplishment that I am proud of is losing a considerable amount of weight. All throughout my life I accepted the fact that I was overweight, and did nothing about it. I remember when some of my closest friends made jokes about how I was overweight, embarrassing me in front of my class, but all I did was absorb their negativity. I had always wanted to eat healthier and lose weight, but I never worked towards my dream. By my junior year, I had a job, a car, and a driver's license, so I was able to afford a gym membership and transportation there every day. After I bought my gym membership, I went every day after school with three of my friends. We were all new, so it was a learning experience from the beginning. One of my first days …show more content…
in the gym, the weights fell off of the barbell while I was bench pressing, it was embarrassing, but I was astonished when an enormous bodybuilder helped me pick up the weights and start over. I had always assumed everyone who went to the gym was cocky, but this proved otherwise. He taught me the proper way to bench press and recommended that I experiment with a few workout programs, and eventually start my own workout schedule once I had an understanding of the gym and the machines they offered. My friends and I started browsing online taking notes and tips from popular online fitness trainers and their workout programs. We spent countless hours online reading through fitness forums taking advice from numerous body builders and beginners like ourselves. We used all of their information to create our workout program that was appropriate for us. We decided to devote each day to a different muscle group, and use the weekends as our rest days. My friends continued their normal eating habits, but I completely modified my diet from consisting mostly of junk food to a much cleaner diet composed of lean meats, vegetables, fruits and grains.
I learned how to cook quality food from my mom and a few of my favorite online fitness trainers such as Chris Jones, and Sandra Perez. After 6 months, I started noticing my progress; my weight had dropped from 200 to 168 pounds. I also noticed my self-esteem rise and my attitude transform; I was a much nicer person to everyone, and my outlook on life became increasingly positive. I noticed a substantial amount of my stress had disappeared and I was a much happier person. However, it took a while for my friends and family to accept the improved me. My parents would mock me whenever I cheated my diet, on birthdays they would tease me with cake, but I wasn't going to let them drag me down. I was extremely proud of my success, so whether they supported my changes or not, it didn't matter to me. I am proud of this accomplishment because it displayed my determination to reinvent myself, and taught me that with hard work, determination, and patience, I can achieve anything I set my mind to. With this mindset, I aspire to drop my weight down to 130 pounds, then gradually gain muscle up to 150 pounds and maintain my
weight.
The next major accomplishment came about seven years later when I was able to pay off the mortgage of that home and became debt free! Being debt free was an amazing feeling! Unfortunately, it was a bittersweet moment because around that time the devastating earthquake in Haiti had taken place on January 12th of 2010. I still had a lot of family there; My aunt and cousins. Thankfully they were able to escape their home before it crumbled. About ten years prior to the earthquake my mother had...
I am a runner. I was selected to be a cross country captain for my senior year and I had set myself a realistic goal of being one of the top five finishers at the state meet in the fall. I never had the thought that I could not do it; I knew I was going to be up there with the best. When the state meet came and I traveled with the team as captain, that race became one of the most memorable of my cross country career but not for the reasons I expected.
A very significant milestone that occurred in my life was the purchase of my first car with my own money. I know some might think that buying a car isn’t that serious or such an achievement, but to me it was. It was important to me because not only did I work hard to save up enough money but I also payed for my car in full. Now this wasn’t easy. I had to discipline myself to not go shopping on the weekends & to only spend money when I really needed to. Knowing that no one helped me to get my car and that I no longer had to depend on anyone gave me a feeling of independence and freedom. That freedom was something that I longed to experience ever since I received my
A time that I did something that I thought I couldn't do, was to stick up for others. When I was in sixth grade, during recess, I saw a girl named Melissa crying. I went up to her and asked what was wrong. She said that people were talking about her behind her back, and that she felt awkward around them. I consoled her by letting her know that friends don't talk behind friends backs and that you have other people that you can talk to during recess. It bothered me how Melissa was sad. She felt a little better after we talked and then we played games.
many things leading me to gain the self-esteem slowly that I lost back in high school.
My experiences have forced me to change and encouraged me to improve. As an adolescent, I struggled with being an overweight child. I was constantly advised by pediatricians to make a
Lucky for me, I finally learned how to be healthy. It took longer than I would’ve liked but I don’t regret my journey. Learning what being healthy means made me the person I am today.
...e completely healthy attempting to avoid my punishment and then there were days where I ultimately caved and failed at eating well. On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.
I have not had a single accomplishment that is worth writing about but I feel that my college completion will be one accomplishment that I will be most proud. I feel that I am taking one step forward in life that will make me become a more successful person.
Once I achieve my milestones and my goals, chances are I will look better and feel more confident about myself. This would lead me to eating healthy and acquiring a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain and build my body. I will probably get a tattoo too, to remember this great achievement. I already have a couple tattoos of other significances, and I usually only get them if it means a lot to me. As a result I told myself that if I were to successfully accomplish this goal, I would get a tattoo as a constant reminder of my achievement. Additionally, all the people I have told on my public media accounts will probably be very proud of me when they hear that I reached my goal, and that is definitely something I look forward too. Not only would I make my girlfriend proud, but I would also make my parents and close friends proud as well. I have two older brothers who were both more athletically talented than me. They would always one-up me on everything that I would do, until I took up swimming because they both do not know how to swim. However, now if I finish my goal and I keep going, I could one day surpass them, and I would love to acquire that feeling of becoming better than my
During my life I had some accomplishments. But, I will tell you the truth I cannot call them as my great accomplishments. At this point of my life I had the two greatest events. My first event was my high school graduation. The second event, which was the biggest and the most unforgettable was my wedding day.
My biggest accomplishment in school is when I graduated high school early despite what others said. I decided that public high school was not for me, because of all of the distractions I had. So I begged my mom to transfer me to butterflied high school. I went one time a week to meet with my teacher were I turned in all my homework and took my tests. I feel that going

The greatest achievement in my life would have to be my success in the sport of football. I started playing the game at the age of eight. It stuck with me throughout my life until now. During a football game there are numerous amounts of dynamic situations to be involved with. There are so many crucial actions that take place in the matter of seconds. In a certain instance in my life , the game had a strong impact on my life. It took place my senior year against our rivals, the best team in the district. That Monday we began preparing for the coming Friday. It was a typical week until I woke up Wednesday morning. I was routinely late for school running around the house. On my way out the door the phone brought me to an abrupt stop. Turning around, I started to sprint to the phone. A few steps into it, I crushed my little toe on the leg of my couch. Face down on the carpet, I proceeded to scream in pain. Answering the phone quickly got check off my things to do list. As soon as I could regain my sanity I hopped over to the couch and forgot about school. My toe suddenly turned black and swollen. It was the worst coincidence that could’ve happened to me. I went to the hospital later that day, where I heard that my foot was broken and I couldn’t play.
Well, as I began to get older I started to achieve more and more. When was 8 I started washing dish. That was a great achievement to me back then, but now I regret it. Now my mother makes me wash dish all the time. When I go to other people house they want me to wash their dishes. Now I hate washing dish. After learning how to wash
