Looking back to the beginning of my first semester and going to this class for the first time wasn’t what I think now about the class. In the beginning I didn’t think we would learn that much since we meet just two times a week. Now that we are done with the class I think that I have taken a lot away from it. It was probably the most helpful class to help with the transition to college, to figure out how everything works. My peer mentors really helped and their advice is really good because they have been in our shoes. They know exactly what it is like to be in our shoes. The first few things we had to do was interview a fellow classmate and an upper classman. Wasn’t my favorite thing in the world because it forced us to get a little uncomfortable because you had to interview someone you had never met before. After interviewing with a peer in my class, I thought It was really good because now we go up to each other and talk. We would have never done that if we hadn’t interviewed each other. It was very intimidating because there are almost 300 companies looking for employees and you have to compete with every agriculture kid for those jobs. Before the career fair I was expecting to talk to the required 3 companies and leave because I wanted to return home to the farm this summer. After the career fair my perspective on my summer changed a lot. I ended up handing out almost 10 resumes and talking with so many companies. Instead of going home to the farm I have been interviewing with companies to intern this summer. I realized that if I can go to other companies or farms and learn from them that I might learn something to take back home to the family farm that could benefit. Career fair was something that I was least excited about but afterwards it ended up being my favorite thing that we got to
