The pediatric office organization I work for is a small office with no one person being in charge as a nurse leader, manager or supervisor. Furthermore, every nurse works independently taking care of their patients. However, one of the reasons we function so well and the office runs effortlessly is because we do work together as part of a team to meet each patients’ needs. Together our common goals are exceptional care and improved patient outcomes in our sick patients and the maintenance of health in our well patients. Additionally, it is vital that the physician and nurse communicate effectively to provide the highest care for each and every patient.
At Kids Choice Pediatrics we do not have nurse leaders, managers or supervisors but each nurse has to have a certain set of key skills to have success in their job. Most of these skills cannot be taught and must be a part of who you …show more content…

Feeling secure they have the capabilities to provide the best possible care. Additionally, communication attributes to each nurses’ effectiveness. To speak and listen successfully is one of the most important characteristics a nurse can have. Lastly, adaptability is a characteristic that is needed no matter what area of nursing you are in. It is essential to be able to deal with changing schedules and working longer hours than originally planned.
Nursing is definitely seen as an indication of quality in our organization. Without our nurses, we would not have a practice to run on a daily basis.

The nurses are usually the first point of contact and since we are in a smaller community, without a lot of providers the benefits to our patients is improved by the nurses.
