Peak performers are people who become experts at achieving excellence by focusing on results(Bethel University,2013). Peak performers take negativity, and turn it into positive and real outcomes(Bethel University,2013). Peak performers set long term goals, and develop daily action plans of achieving their goals(Bethel University,2013). There are several key attributes of a peak performer. One aspect is, peak performers take risk and move out of their comfort zones to be able to reach their goals in life(Bethel University,2013). Another attribute is, making the right decisions, and using good judgment in order to maintain the right path toward a set goal(Bethel University,2013). Peak performers also keep confidence in themselves, and continually …show more content…
Self-assessment can also help a person recognize their strengths as well as their down falls(Bethel University, 2013). One concept of self-assessment is learning the best way of how a person actually learns and retains new information(Bethel University, 2013). Another is, teaching someone how to use critical thinking skills. Critical thinking is logical thinking based on a systematic thought process to solve problems and situations(Bethel University, 2013). Self-assessment also helps a person to be more motivated in life and how to stay focused on achieving their set goals(Bethel University, 2013). In my opinion self-assessment is very important in a person's personal life as well as their professional life. At home a person can use self-assessment to develop a plan of making their household function the way it should. At work self-assessment can help a person develop the best plan of action to perform their job to their employers expectations, also employers that use self-assessment can learn the best ways of leading their employees to maximize results, and get the best out of their …show more content…
I found out that I am a kinesthetic learner(Bethel University, 2013). Kinesthetic learners are well coordinated, like to touch things, and learn best by hands on activities(Bethel University, 2013). Also kinesthetic learners like collecting samples, writing out information, and spending time outdoors(Bethel University, 2013). After completing the read section, completing this inventory, and seeing my results I feel the kinesthetic style of learning fits me spot on. I do learn best when I can touch things, and be involved in activities on gathering information about new subjects. I am also a very organized person and coordinate things to go together(my wife says I have OCD). I love being outside in the outdoors. I am an avid hunter and fisherman being outside is where I find myself at peace, and I am able to fully relax. By knowing my learning style it will benefit me throughout life by helping me better understand, and retain new information anytime I try something new and
I found this assessment extremely useful since it helped me see my weaknesses and strengths clearer. Knowing what my strengths and weaknesses are helps me know what sort of emotions or habits I need to be careful of and what qualities I can improve and/or
Self-assessment is the process of analyzing ourselves to evaluate the factors that are important to achieve goals in our lives. (Sedikides, 1993) suggests that self-assessment will help people to know more about their uncertain parts in life. Also at the same time people use self-assessment to enhance their certainty of their own self-knowledge. By developing self awareness (Assessing our selves) we can gain control over ourselves in many weak areas in our lives.
1) (Conroy, Elliot & Hofer, 2003). This model is comprised of the mastery-approach (striving to attain task mastery and personal improvement), performance-approach (striving to achieve positive evaluations for abilities), mastery-avoidance (striving to avoid falling short of, or to lose ability, skills of knowledge), and performance-avoidance (striving to avoid negative evaluations of abilities). Research has shown that the mastery-approach and performance-approach mind-sets result in the experience of more positive emotions and often increased success rates (Stoeber & Crombie,
Stated earlier, your self assessment is split into numerous categories. During this assessment, you rated yourself in categories to determine your level of self awareness. Scoring between 14-20 shows that you are aware of the important areas in my life, whereas scoring below a 14 shows areas that could be improved to provide an optimal level of health and self awareness (Dossey & Keegan, 2009). During this assessment I scored a 15/20 in physical, a 10/14 in mental, 11/16 in emotions, 12/16 in relationships, 15/16 in choices, and a 14/14 in
Peak performers are people who excel and push their selves and strive to become better than others in subjects and challenges. I would like to classify myself as a peak performer because I enjoy facing new challenges and trying to become better at my everyday life. Being a peak performer, one should always be a creative thinker, acquire new and improved skills, and always push to excel in life (Bethel University, 2013). I hope everyone tries to be a peak performer because having short and long term goals truly help with achieving success in school and in one's career choice. If a person does not try to learn and become better there can be no room for advancement. Peak performers are those who are not afraid to try new things and push forward as they go through life. I hope to utilize the characteristics of a peak performer in my life every day to become better at what I do!
In final analysis, my writing has greatly improved during this semester, and having looked at the area's I most need to work on has given me an awareness of what my weaknesses are. Examining what I have learned and what I need to learn allows me to generate a strategy to fortify my writing skills. Critiquing my own work has given me insight into how my writing is progressing in this class and allowed me to see short comings I had missed previously. Self-evaluation is a helpful tool for anyone who wants to continue to learn what areas they can improve upon and how much progress they are making. I believe those who appraise their own work will have a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses then those who do not evaluate themselves.
Henry “Hank” Aaron once said “I had to do it for Jackie Robinson, and my people and myself and for everybody who ever called me a nigger” (Christensen). Racial discrimination is an issue that affects everything and everyone around the world. A definition of racial discrimination is when a certain race is basically picked on by another race just because they are different. In human society, all the races of the world’s inhabitants were or could be racially discriminated. This could be as simple as races having a different skin color to something more complex as races being discriminated for the way they use their money and how they make their money.
As we reviewed the self awareness module this past week, it was very interesting to see how the self assessments provided the class with information about their own personal human behaviors. I was aware of most of the information provided but there were some tendencies I was surprised to find that fitted my character. It was good to be reminded of the things I had forgotten about myself. Learning about my individuality and how I interact and respond to others based on my traits, personality and behavior has been an awakening experience. It is also great to know that I can work on areas that need improvement to become a more balanced person to better assist my subordinates, teams and organizations.
Physical movement is extremely important in the classroom. I am a tactile learner so through movement I am able to learn better. For example, when given directions to a new place, the movement of the car and myself enables me to remember how to get to that destination again at a later time. “An active body enhances an active mind. Learners who are activ...
Self evaluations have the potential to be incredibly insightful because one can easily judge the honesty of an individual if they've been observing that individual for a length of time. It also allows one to glimpse into how someone views their own visage, ken and performance. One could find great differences in how one believes they're viewed versus reality. However, I will attempt to present myself in most honest terms. My performance in this year's English class could be summarized by one word laziness, although that seems to discredit the other three years of high school that could easily be consumed by that definition as well.
The focus of my self-assessments was to help me find out more information about myself and what would be a good career for me. Even though I have made a decision about a career and have put a lot of time and money going into my career, I feel like there are still a lot of options for me. There are many different environments and different populations that I could choose to work with. In doing numerous assessments, I am hoping to learn more about myself and validate what I think that I know to be true about myself. Both career and personality assessment would be useful to me.
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
The first assessment online analyized my strengths and weaknesses and showed me how to best play them to my benefit. I received a 4.57 out of a 5.0 scale on SELF. Meaning, I have a good sense of self-worth and who I am. I enjoy spending time by myself to reflect on ideas. I acknowledge small details that I want to fix and pride myself in growth.
Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
I realised that self-awareness is important in achieving self-improvement. The more an individual understands themselves, the better he or she is at adapting life changes that is according to their needs. The more self-aware we are, it improves the level of confidence we have on oneselves. This can be achieved through greater exposure, thus widens one’s experiences and will be more likely be more accepting of others. Self-awareness will also benefit us to be more accurate in accessing
