I, Virginia Harrell, have learned a great deal during my internship. While completing my Master degree at South University in the mental health counseling program. I am currently working in the field as a Mental Health Professional, but I wanted to gain more experience in the therapist/counseling field. I am in the process of completing an internship at the Team Wellness Center. Working in the therapist role allowed me to get hands on experience in completing psychosocial an asking question about the client family history by doing this it confirmed that this is the field I am interested in pursuing. I accredit this largely to the support and guidance I have received from the supervisors, professors, and co-worker. I found it to be challenging which made me adapt as a counselor, as well as to become more aware of my own personal attitudes and beliefs. I have been promoted to DBT Care Coordinator and currently in training for this position as a DBT coordinator I will be available 24/7. I will be responsible for teaching skills technique and will also be a part of the group being conducted by the therapist for this population. I do often do a lot of therapy, crisis intervention, and pre-post hospitalization for the clients. I must say I really enjoy my job as a therapist but would not want to be a therapist that stays in the office all day. I would rather get out into the community and visit people in their environment. I have also been assign to handle a treatment center for new intake and existing client. In my opinion people seem to be more relaxed and tend to let the guard down and be a little more
