When reviewing the discussion questions, question #3 stood out almost immediately. A main focus throughout the chapter is consistency. Question #3 advises that once the population analysis is completed for a new project, a lack of consistency is evident. It is up to the designer to make sure that everyone is on the same page. If the designer’s population analysis suggests information vastly different than the client’s data, I would tend to believe that we would have differences in regards to the need of the training and the root causes as well. The designer would need to take a step back and evaluate the need and root causes of the training a second time. A client can approach the designer with a problem, but it is important for the designer to keep an open mind. It is possible that the client may believe that the root cause is reason A, but a majority of the stakeholders may believe that it is reason B. For example the CEO may see a decrease in sales as a result of lazy workers, but the workers may see this decrease as a result of being overworked. …show more content…

In order to obtain more accurate information, a great way to start is by obtaining more information. Do not only speak with the CEO, but speak with the workers as well. This chapter mentioned the idea of role-playing. I initially thought of having the CEO and workers think from the other’s point of view. Did the workers sympathize with the CEO? Did the CEO understand the workers’ thought processes? This additional data will not only provide information about the population, but will also suggest what the population thinks of themselves. This would provide a larger data set for population
