This following report is about identifying a learning area to improve and compliment personal continuing professional development. Since computing skills such as animation or programming appeal to me, this dose not in any way mean I dislike functional skills such as English or Maths.
The chosen subject of choice is programming. The main reason for choosing programming is because ultimately I would like to be able to extend my knowledge on website development. I will learn the programming language php and incorporate it into web pages.
Our teacher Grayde Bowen is currently teaching us C++. We are starting with C++ because it is a stepping stone to more complex programming languages. The reason for starting with a basic programming language such as C++ is because it is quite easy to learn and will help grasp the basic concept of a language. The main purpose of learning any language is so that you can grasp the fundamental elements which hold the key to more complex programming languages in today’s computing world.
My current knowledge of this area of programming is in C++. I ...

In the book “The Elements of Learning” by B. Banner, Jr., and C. Cannon, the authors introduce eleven different elements that characterize the different stages a student goes through before becoming successful. Industry became the first element introduced; industry represents hard work followed by diligence and persistence. A student must be willing to work hard in order to acquisitively allow the spirit of knowledge to be retained. The second element represents enthusiasm, but such element can best be described as finding something interesting, stimulating, or even entertaining. Meaning that the things you approach must be entertaining or must have something interesting that will be able to keep you focus. The third element, pleasure, represents the small, quiet and private satisfactions that come from your own abilities, and from what you bring into your work. Having pleasure means being proud of the achievements obtained from the individual’s hard work. The fourth element is cur...
After my twelfth grade, the inherent ardor I held for Computer Sciencemotivated me to do a bachelors degree in Information Technology. Programming and Math, a paragon of logic and reasoning have always been my favorite subjects since childhood. I still vividly remember the time during my graduation, when I was successful in creating a simple calculator application as a class assignment. The joy I derived from creating something that is used by a lot of people to help them perform complex calculations, made me realize the power of computing in its true sense. It was also in my graduation that I developed an immense interest in programming languages such as Java, C++ an...
While working or while looking for work there are certain skills sets that are universally important. No matter what job or career path you have chosen these skills make it easier to obtain your goals, whatever they may be.
Through the self-assessment instruments utilized in this program, I have gained wealth of knowledge about my strengths, and weaknesses and how they affect my personal and professional life. By using different exercises, I recognized new strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, I identified ways to develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) identified some of my strengths as the ability to get things done, initiating, and taking risks (Kolb, 2007). In the Strongest Self Feedback Exercise, some of the feedback listed my strengths as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being self-confident, a fast learner, determined, hardworking, and an awesome listener (Drucker, 2005).
In this report, I will reflect on my professional development throughout this module, from when I started in September, to now. According to Beausaert et al. (2011), ‘the art of self-evaluation is an integral element of reflection and involves critical insight into understanding one 's strengths and limitations’. Therefore, my aim is to identify my learning needs and to recognise my personal skills and capabilities, as well as identifying areas of my skill set that need to be refreshed or extended to stand out in the competitive job market. By doing this, I hope to demonstrate knowledge of the skills that I have gained during this module.
Commitment to continuous development of competency depends a great deal on the motivation of the individual, and the extent of self-awareness and honesty he/she has concerning abilities and skills. Accessing one’s personal level of competence could prove to be a daunting task without a focused desire for continued professional development, the help of co-workers, supervisors, continuing education classes, and a genuineness of attitude that isn’t afraid, or resentful of critique. Cultivating an honest understanding of one’s own knowledge or lack of knowledge in certain areas, or even a gap in skills or abilities is crucial to the continuing development of professional competence.
A working application of new skills, allows us to improve ourselves in practice and to
A reason that this country works well is that everyone has diverse abilities which can contribute to everyday life. Some people let those abilities shine at work, in their personal life or both. As people have their strengths, they also have their weaknesses. There is a problem to improve those weaknesses when the weakness is not identified. Once the weak point is identified it needs to be resolved. A plan of action for improvement helps in solving the situation. In this paper, I will identify abilities and skills that I possess that contribute positively in my work environment, in my personal life, and in my learning team. I will also identify personal areas that need improvement, and outline a plan of action for improvement.
