Implementing a school dress code has both positive and negative effects on the students following the limiting rules. Dress code can affect students attitudes, personality, motivation, stress level, and influences in numerous ways. The effects it can have on a person vary in both good and bad ways. While possibly fixing a person attitude and negative traits it may also alter one 's personality.
Over time there has been arguments and court cases discussing the fairness and constitutionality of this movement. Dress codes and hair regulations have increased a great deal over time leading to more arguments over the controversy. Educators refuse to agree on the benefits of having a dress code within schools. Another topic worth discussion is the dress code implemented in schools and if it is a good idea to have it. Most school officials and directors agree that it is a good idea to implement dress codes because it can prevent certain situations and make the learning process easier. Many schools chose to go with a stern dress code rather than a uniform. The article questions if this is a better plan or if uniforms make things easier in the long run. Many students will tell you that no dress code is needed at all but to create an appropriate learning environment some rules towards student dress are necessary. The problems with a dress code that may occur are vague descriptions, loopholes, and somewhat sexist comments. These comments are not aimed to be sexist, but can be portrayed that way due to the nature of the topic.
For example: In many schools girls feel they are more strictly limited than the boys in the school.
