My mother homeschools my two brothers, so every day they are able to wake up an hour or two after me. While I am preparing for a day full of dancing and academics they are in their beds snoring as loud as thunder during a disruptive downpour. My routine in the morning includes packing my dance bag for the appropriate classes I will be taking that day. If I have ballet that means I pack a black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes. For international into my bag go folklorico shoes with my leotard and black tights. Dress code for modern class is a black leotard, black tights, and socks. I always have trouble remembering to bring socks. Socks get too dirty to wear more than one time, especially if you are dancing on floors as filthy as the bathroom sink. I love wearing socks without designs on them to dance in, but the problem is all of the socks that I own that fit this criteria like to play hide-and-go-seek. My socks disappear like they were a figment of my imagination. The morning that I knew all three of my dance socks that I had found the day before were in the washer, was a modern day. I spent most of my breakfast and all of my time getting dressed frantically thinking about what to do about this pair of socks. I didn’t want to wear wet socks or …show more content…
a pair from either of my parents. I was running out of time to come up with a duo to cover my toes, when I heard a loud snore. My brothers, perfect, their feet are not too big and the likelihood of picking a pair with a pattern or deign on them is slim to none. I made sure to turn the light off in the hallway before I opened their door. I slowly tip toed into their room, one foot after another. My right foot then left foot all the way to my first brother’s dresser opening the top drawer, only to see a pile of underwear and pajamas. The second drawer held t-shirts and the third jeans and shorts. That left the fourth and final drawer in the dresser, slowly pulling at the handle I saw the gold in the treasure chest, there were dozens and dozens of pairs in this drawer. If the fourth draw was a high school dance every sock would have a date. Looking down at the bundles of fabric I was delighted that my plan had worked, and without delay I grabbed the first pair I saw. No one knew that I had taken my brother’s socks that first time, so I never worried if I couldn’t find myself a pair of socks.
I knew that if I sunk into their bedroom and opened the bottom drawer of the first dresser I would be supplied with an emporium of socks. Everything was going well with my secret little trips to the boys’ bedroom, until I came home from school and took off my shoes in front of my brother. He quickly recognized his socks on my feet, and I was caught. I was slightly reprimanded by my mother, the chief of police at my house, for taking the socks without asking, but then I was free to go on with my day. I don’t take my brother’s socks everyday anymore, but only in the most dire of
situations.
Waking up early at 6:00 A.M in the morning isn’t the funniest thing to do. The times on when school starts should be changed to a later time. Schools should change start times to later there is even factual evidence that this is true. In the article ‘The Teen Who Woke Up Her School’ by Jane Bianchi wrote about a teen named Jilly Dos Santos who put hard work into petitions and powerpoints to show how more sleep can better not only her but other people on school work and sports. People need more sleep to function and get through the day and to be more alert about things around them.Evidence from scientist and from teens show that people work better when they have more energy and got a good night's rest and when students don’t they sometimes start
The moment when my ballet teacher, Olga, declared that I was ready to go en pointe was a moment I would remember. We were in the studio, looking at our reflection in the mirror and standing at the ballet barre.

Throughout the world, there are many artifacts ranging from Literature, Music, Social Media, Fashion, Toys, Technology, and many other ones. Every single one of these artifacts has a special meaning to them such as, the Statue of Liberty which represents freedom. The National Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum both contain many different types of artifacts that represent our history, as well as sharing a special meaning that can affect a person individually or even shape our society. "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" was a book written by John Boyne, which should be considered an artifact in the Holocaust Memorial Museum or the National Museum, because it represents the history of the Holocaust, as well as by symbolizing
My brother, Andrew stated that he felt betrayed how his best friends go out and party with him, then turned around and call my mother, Faye, and told them that he was addicted to cocaine. Two days went by; my brother, Andrew, avoided all phone calls from my mother and his best friends. Finally, on the third day after the confrontation, my oldest brother, Gary, and mother, Faye, showed up at Andrew’s dorm room and explained to him if he went with them to get a drug assessment then he would be able to stay in school and keep everything that my family had threatened to take away from him. My brother, Andrew, had already lost most of his trust in his friends, but he agreed to take a drug assessment because he did not want to lose what he had.
how the shoes had taken over his life. One should not ruin their self health for any
For the first time in a long time, I was jealous of someone else’s shoes. Not just envious of their style or fit, but deep down I wanted to strip her of her shoes and socks and take them for my own. It was a fall day, not particularly chilly for most people walking to class. I felt very conspicuous, because I had been walking around for the past two days without wearing socks or shoes.
In Small Shoes, Camille Licate shares her story of how she has learned to let go of the things in life that had been holding her back, so that she could be open to new opportunities. She does this by using the metaphor of shoes. While there are some opportunities in life that help to carry you forward, eventually, you may need to let go of them in order to take advantage of other opportunities. Likewise, you cannot keep using the same pair of shoes forever. At some point, you will outgrow them, and need a new pair to help you get to the place where you need to be. Through this metaphor, Licate explains how your plans for the future may change with time and dance is not the only career path out there for dance majors. She also relates
The world only sees a small fraction of a dancer’s life. While a performance on a stage may look flawless, the amount of work put into making it look like that is completely underappreciated.
Corsets have many different uses. Some people wear corsets to slim down their waist, others wear it for fashion. If someone put on a corset improperly or are wearing the wrong size it has the potential to harm them. If someone wishes to wear a corset they first must know their size, how to loosen a corset, how to properly put it on and tighten it, and how to properly take it off.

Wear closed-toe shoes: Closed-toe shoes should be required in the office because there are many stacked boxes filled with paper and if the boxes fall, they can cause an injury.
Leave the sofa, go to the kitchen, and start breakfast for the children and yourself. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so fix a substantial meal to fuel the kids until lunchtime. Start preparing lunches, lay out the kid’s clothes for the day, pack their book bags, go to their rooms, and tell them to get up out of the bed. Run go flip the bacon and eggs. Put toast into the toaster, pour orange juice into glasses, and put finished lunches into book bags. Tell kids to get out of the bed again.
All of my life I have been able to sleep with the lights on or off and noise or no noise. My parents bought me an alarm clock to solve this problem. The alarm had a flashing light and it beeped while playing music from the radio at the same time. This clock annoyed everyone in the family. My dad asked me to put it across the room so that I would have to get out of bed to turn it off. Without fail, it would go off for 45 minutes every morning, until my dad came in and turned it off. He would sit on the edge of my bed, rub my shoulder blades, and talk with me. I relate this situation to many of the concepts discussed in the second session of the Active Parenting Videos by Michael H. Popkin. We had to determine who owns this problem. Obviously, my behavior was affecting many people and goals were being blocked. I would say my dad was an “authoritative or active” parent (Popkin) in this situation for me. He listened as I explained to him that the alarm becomes part of my dream. He responded to my feelings of exhaustion by coming in and talking to me without yelling at me to get up and get moving. I worked two jobs in high school, plus the family wedding business. I took an AP class, maintained a GPA high enough for the Honor Roll, and dated; plus I got Mono. He looked for an alternative to becoming a yelling dictator type by calmly and
We experience a lot of different things in our lives every day, most of the times are challenges that are hard for us to face. And to face these challenges, we have this valuable possessions that somewhat gives us strength and confidence to face anything that is thrown on us. These items are very different from person to person. It may seem silly to others, but for me, my most valuable possession is my old shoes.
