Before coming to this class, I lived in a fictional land where I envisioned myself as a phenomenal writer and believed all my work to be virtually flawless. As you could imagine, I received a rude awakening within the first few weeks of the school year. To think that I couldn’t turn in a rough draft and receive one of the highest scores in the classroom was preposterous! Although I no longer have the fantasy of thinking my work is perfection, I can say that I have learned a great deal and improved tremendously within these first few months of English 111. For example, understanding the writing process and how to set up a paper has had a terrific influence in my writing. With the help of understanding the writing process more in depth, being able to recognize and correct my most common errors, and setting goals in writing for myself- I have had the chance of improving my writing and knowledge of it. …show more content…

For starters, four sentences is no longer a job well done- it’s lazy. Having the knowledge of how to correctly set up paragraphs has helped the most, in my opinion. Before the class, I knew the number a sentences I should be writing- whether I adhered to the advice of previous teachers or not is completely irrelevant; I knew the very basics, but I can honestly say I had no clue there was a certain way to set up a paragraph. Being shown how to set up a body paragraph with using quotations from a book made a remarkable difference from my Inquiry 1 to my Inquiry 2. Using the writing process, or moreso having a greater understanding of it in depth has made an enormous difference in my
