When most people think about summer, they might think of swimming, time off from work and school, making memories, and other various outdoor activities. However, I think of summer as a time to relax, hangout with friends and family, and learn new things. This past summer, I learned about teamwork, that spending time with family is important, and that God will always be there for me.
This past summer, I went to Future Farmers of America (FFA) camp, and we were engaged in different activities that involved interacting with other people who were not from Charlton County High School. FFA camp focuses on leadership and teamwork. While attending this camp, we competed in activities such as softball and volleyball, where, we competed against different

My friends and I went to the movies and watched The Shallows. This movie was about a girl who got bit by a great white shark. She tried to swim to safety and all she had was a small island. The island would become covered with water when the tide rose in the afternoon, so she had to swim to another island. While swimming to safety, she had to fight the shark, and she eventually defeated the shark and her friends came to help her. This taught me that friends are good to have because they will help us out when we are in trouble. My family and I laid flooring in my grandparents’ house. We laid dark hardwood floor in the living room and tile in their kitchen. This made the house look like a whole new home. Doing all these things with my family was fun, but I did not realize how much I could learn from them by just spending time together. Spending time with my family and friends taught me that they are important, and we should spend time with each other whenever we get the chance.
This past summer has taught me, how to work as a team, how God is always there for me no matter what happens, and how spending time with family and friends is important. I will never forget how things I learned over the past summer has impacted my life and how important they are. My summer was filled with excitement and new adventures that included my family and friends. Someone once said, “Every summer has its own story,”
The story of Summer, by David Updike, is set during that idyllic time in life when responsibility is the last word on anyone's mind. And yet, as with all human affairs, responsibility is an ever-present and ever-necessary aspect to life. What happens when the protagonist, Homer, loses his awareness of a certain personal responsibility to maintain self-control? Homer's actions increasingly make him act foolishly, internally and externally. Also, how does Homer return to a sense of sanity and responsibility? To a degree, I would say that he does.

The summertime is when kids play outside and do whatever they want. Some kids even go to day care or their friends’ house to do something different, “Many children go to summer camps where they learn many of important skills not covered in school” (Cooper 3). Doing work in the summer that does not interest them will make kids despise summer. It also will not let the kids do want they want to do in peace, because they will worry about the huge assignment they still have to finish, “…the backbreaking obligation to read Charles Dickens blighted June, ravaged July obliterated August” (Queenan,1). Some might argue that the long summer will make the children forget what they learned, but if the students cannot relearn what they already knew in a month or less, that means that they are not being taught correctly. In general, summer reading makes a students' summer into more school time, which is not helpful to them.
“All summer in a day” by Ray Bradbury, is a story about jealousy, this is shown through this quote: “When people hate on you, it's because you’ve got something they want.” All Summer in a day is set sometime in the future, maybe soon or maybe far, and the earth is overpopulated. Margot was sent from Earth to Venus at the age of four. Margot remembers the sun, and for that she is constantly bullied and harassed, since the other school children don’t remember the sun like she does, because they were just two years old. “All Summer in a Day” has some very good themes, like jealousy, regret, and bullying. Jealousy can cause people to do things to the victim who has, or is something the bully desires. William was jealous of Margot for seeing the sun, so he locks her in a closet where she will miss out on one of the most
During Summer break children can enjoy more unstructured time and families can go on vacations. Summer seems to be a large block of time that parents and kids can use to take a breather...But, there is a shadow that often hovers over this lengthy break - a shadow commonly called the summer slide.
Summer is a time where people have gatherings, goof around, take vacations and spend time with their family. Many students are used to having two week winter break, one week spring break, and three months of summer break. Changing this traditional format could lead to negative effects for many students, educators, and families. A balanced school year would not have enough benefits to change schedule.
If you attend summer school you have to attend three months of school and get nine months off. Another great thing about attending summer school is that you have more time to enjoy the holidays with your family and friends Those three things I just listed are amazing opportunities and who wouldn’t want to take advantage of these great things.
Likewise, summer gives time for kids to relax and prepare for the fall quarter (Chu). Kids need summer break, so they have time to recover. In addition, Chu reports that summer is needed because kids who don’t take the summer off feel less motivated. Summer break helps kids recuperate from the social pressure. Furthermore, break gives kids time to work on something and follow their dreams.
In conclusion, the summer of 2016 and 2017 were the best summers in my life. I know that I have the dedication to complete a task that I agree to do, no matter how painful or uncomfortable it may be. I believe this strength and power will serve me well during my college years, as I work hard at my studies, face many challenges, and begin to identify a career that will bring me spontaneous and financial rewards. Somehow, I feel that the Spring Valley YMCA helped me grow up from child to adult and preparing myself for
The summer vacation students on a traditional schedule receive could be very beneficial since summer gives time for the students to attend camps or other activities that would allow them to learn. The camp may not be like the learning in school, but students would be able to get a different style of education while having fun. Lynn-nore Chittom and Jeff Klassen, two authors who wrote about year-round vs. traditional schooling say,
When certain texts are read, different messages can be taken from it. Also, more arguments and ideas can be branched off of that one particular theme. The poem of “Summer” by Walter Dean Myers plays out a very happy scene of the overall joy of summer. This poem shares all the happiness that occurs and can occur throughout and during summer. Memories come rushing back to many who read this and reflect back on their childhood summer days. Yet, one issue that could be branched of this poem and could be noted is the increasing problem of children now days not having such an enjoyable and memorable summer. Kids all over spend their time differently and have many reasons why they do not play outside during summer more often than a few years back. It makes those who have good summer memories of being outside sad that children now aren’t enjoying summer outdoors as much as they could. In “Summer” by Walter Dean Myers, an argument that could be talked about would be that which of children not playing outside in summer as much as before and the main problems that led to this occurring is that technology is a huge distraction, some environments are scary to be in, and just pure laziness.
I’m on a muddy, yellow bus coming back from camp. I'm twelve and so are you. Prior to leaving for camp, I had imagined it would be just me and three, maybe four, other boys that I hadn't met yet, running around all summer, getting ourselves into trouble. Playing games and just enjoying our summer. You know, typical boy stuff. Ultimately it ended up being me and this one girl. That's you. As long as we are still on the bus its like we are still at camp. Once we reach the pickup point where our parents would be waiting for us camp will be over.
Summer vacation is legendary. An integral part of American culture, it is loved by students and loathed by parents. Its influence stretches as far as the economy and media of the country. Nevertheless, such a famed part of American educational customs is unnecessary and even detrimental to students. Its institution hinders learning and it can have a damaging effect on the families and students involved.
My favorite season of the year is summer because of the warm weather, the school vacation, and the endless fun. I really enjoy the warm weather because it’s the perfect atmosphere to do outdoor activities. My favorite part about summer has to be the fact that school is closed for two months. During summer, you’re free to do whatever you want, not worrying about curfew or waking up early for school. Summer time is a great time to relax with friends and family by soaking up the sun at a beach or simply having dinner together.
My favorite summer vacation was when my Father took me to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact that it was my very first time on an airplane. I cannot recall another time in my life when I experienced so much joy. That trip to Universal Studios was the first time my Father and I actually did something together, just the two of us and was something brought me close to my Father. In this essay I will tell you about my plane ride over there, what I did right when I got there, and about my time at Universal Studios.
