On the self-awareness questionnaire, I scored a total of 14. With that being said, I have a lot of great skills with my self-awareness. I am able to know when I am about to become angry and upset. I always tell myself when I feel that I’m in a good or bad mood, and I know what causes my emotions to change. There is need for improvement in this area because I’m unsure if I pay a lot of attention to how I feel. However, I do know when I start to become a little defensive. On the self-management questionnaire I scored a total of 15. This puts me at the top quartile which is the best. I know myself causing me to step away from an issue and come back later to resolve it. I analyze a lot of issues; I easily motivate myself to become the bigger person …show more content…
This total is in the average quartile. I have room for improvement to work on with my social awareness. I need to become more aware of others, I happen to sense the impact of my words or behavior on others. My great strengths outweigh my bad causing me to have this score of 14. On the relationship management questionnaire I scored a total of 14. The total of 14 is also in the top quartile as well. With the relationship management, I frequently initiate the successful resolution of a conflict. With my positive thoughts, it’s very easy for me to make a point with other people. I’m easy to get along with and cooperate with other people no matter what the situation may be. I compliment others, I love making the next person feel good about them and remind myself daily that it’s not all about …show more content…
With procrastination, I find out that I still need major improvement. I always seem to buy gifts at the last minute. With this type of behavior, this may be critical if I’m married or have children in the future. Doing things on time will kill the procrastination. I often say to myself, “I have enough time to do it later.” That’s one big killer that would cause me to delay my goals that I have set for me. According to Burka, “When people observe their behavior and clarify what’s behind their resistance, they may realize that they are automatically reacting with old patterns and fears from the past, rather than responding to circumstances in the present situation (Burka 153).” With this research this allows me to focus more on improvement and that means to not look back on my past, but be positive and do it now then delay what to do. On the metacognition and self-reflection questionnaire I scored a total of 13. A total of 13 are above average but it is not at the top quartile. One pattern that I notice is that when I read I stop occasionally to see what the topic means. This may take a lot of time out from reading the actual material but I have to know what certain words mean so that I can understand the text. I ask myself questions a lot such as how am I doing something and I think about assumptions when things aren’t clear. These are a few good strengths and possible
Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is very hard to stop procrastinating everything once you have gotten into the habit of doing it. Once I had a term paper due for my religion class. It was to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time doing it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to the very last minute to do it. I waited until the night before to do most of it. Needless to say, I was up very late that night. In this class there was always a part of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final paper is due keeps me on task and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your final result will be.
First, by reading over my results it was very helpful to understand why I like putting others before myself, defending those who need it, and always serving others because I am the defender and that’s what 13% of the people around the world do. It is also helpful to understand why I am shyer and introverted because I put others before myself and I serve them. I also felt that by knowing what I am stronger at or weaker of so I know how to approach any situation in the future. The one thing that I found to be least helpful is that even though I know my negative traits, it will be very hard to break those habits because those qualities define who I am. Some of my most accurate responses were supportive, reliable, being a great family man and husband, caring, imaginative and observant, loyal, enthusiastic, hardworking and an admirable employee. Altogether, there was nothing that does not define who I am. These results for me were actually highly
My score in the task category was a 45 which is considered to be in the very high range. I scored 39 in relationship, which is considered in the moderate high range. Again the results suggest that I have a directive type leadership style. Not that I’m not good with people, I am just more concerned with getting the job done versus having relationship with people.

Finally, when it comes to the Negative Emotionality personality section, my percentile is 67. I’m a little bit more nervous/High Strung than Calm/Relaxed.
The breakdown was as follows, in the area of self-awareness, the score was a 19, in the area of internalized moral perspective, the score was a 19, in the area of balanced processing, the score was a 14 and in the area of relational transparency, the score was a 15. The total scores received reflected high self-awareness and internalized moral prospective and low balanced processing and relational transparency (Northouse, 2013). The higher scores were indicative of me being a strongly authentic, whereas, the lower scores showed that there was some weakness in authentic leadership (Northouse,
As an officer in the United States Army, it has been imperative for me to understand every facet of leadership and why it remains important to be an effective leader. During this course, I have learned some valuable lessons about myself as a leader and how I can improve on my leadership ability in the future. The journal entries along with the understanding of available leadership theories have been an integral part of my learning during this course. For all of the journals and assessments that I completed, I feel it has given me a good understanding of my current leadership status and my future potential as a leader. All of the specific assessments looked at several areas in regards to leadership; these assessments covered several separate focus areas and identified my overall strengths and weaknesses as a leader. Over the course of this paper I will briefly discuss each one of these assessments and journal entries as they pertained to me and my leadership.
According to Daniel Goleman (2002), self-awareness is the degree to which you are able to notice your feelings, label them, and connect to their source.
This test had two parts; a self- report portion and an ability portion. The test assessed my ability to recognize the emotions of others and my own (“Emotional Intelligence Test”, n.d., Summary). My overall assessment results for the Emotional Intelligence Test was 119. According to the assessment, I am able to comprehend and respond to emotions. Although I have some understanding in emotional intelligence, the test highlighted areas in which improvements were needed. In the next section I will review my development with EI in relation to the following domains: relationship , tolerance, flexibility, self-management, and emotional
I have always had the ability to visualize matters in a positive manner, always will possess honesty and integrity at all times, and maintain a positive attitude and motivate others to do well. However, in my assessment, I did notice some areas that require improvement. I have begun to work on and improve my mathematical skills and money management. These areas have always been problems that I have struggled with all my life. This year I have started to work on these areas, I focused on saving and not spending, as well as not buying things that I don 't need, saving for a rainy day. I am a great listener, sometimes this is all a person needs is someone to listen to their problems, so I value this as one of my strengths. This self-assessment helped me to focus on all areas of my life, while I do recognize my areas of strength at also allowed me the ability to focus in on areas that require
The personality test I took had five major categories: open mindedness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and negative emotionality. My scores were relatively low in every category with extraversion being the highest at 53. Personally, I would disagree with this assessment and give myself a score of 80. Growing up as an only child, there wasn’t really
My second highest score came from Perfectionist behavior. I think this tie hand in hand with Affiliative, in the sense I am trying hard to be accepted by others. I find that I am never satisfied with a situation, and find solutions for creating a challenge. Like I stated, I don’t let myself become to comfortable, so by becoming distant, I create a challenge for myself. I am not satisfied with a relationship if I am too comfortable, I try to find ways to improve. I have high standards which result in disappointment from people and myself if they aren’t met. At work I find competition, when I am not at the best, I am trying to always improve. I find this exhausting, because it is never enough.
After the self-assessment, now I feel confident about my qualities and how I need to deal with people with different personality having very differently thinking and how we can come to a common solution of any problem.
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
The Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment Online Library contained different assessments that revelead different scores for personality traits and their relation to the workplace. The assessment contained 3 areas of focus, individual evaluation of self, working with others, and life in organizations. After completing the assessments a score was calculated and results were provided. First, I will briefly discuss my results from the various assessments. Organization behavior is important to study in the workplace to understand different behaviors, roles and structure. If we can recognize our strengths, then we can identify our weakness. Identifying our weakness can allow opportunity for us to be effective employees, leaders, and enhancing our
