“Over time, habits become automatic, learned behaviors, and these are stronger than habits you are trying to incorporate into your life.” (Foreyt) My eating patterns have changed throughout time but in all I do believe that my eating is a habit. I have been accustomed to certain foods, what my mom thought me to make, and what I have learned to make are foods that I stick by rather than changing it up. What I eat has changed from when I was younger to now. Even though my eating habits have not been all that good throughout my life I know that I have maintained a good eating habit all throughout.
My eating habits have not been a consistent balance. At times I was eating good and other times not so good. I now try to eat healthy and try not to eat out as much. This can be hard since going back to school involves me to be out during dinner time. Me not being able to sit down and have dinner with my family causes me to leave and grab something to go or if something is made then I grab what was made and take it with me. It is not the only reason as to why my eating habits have changes throughout the years. My kids, husband, and other family members have changed how I eat and what I eat. I’m going to take you along and briefly tell you about my eating habits throughout my years from when I was younger to now.
My eating pattern has always been eating in and eating out. When I was younger we ate in, homemade food was the best. My mom’s enchiladas, tacos, and posole were amazing. May dads home cooked meals were great too, his tortas, menudo, and grilling. We would eat out every once in a great while. We would go get McDonalds or order pizza. This occasionally happened when my parents wouldn’t have time to cook from getting home late or no...

The trend of unhealthy eating practices began during the 1970’s, and only got worse as time went on. In
Learning to eat differently is no easy task for, especially when someone has eaten the same foods their whole life. It is even harder when the food you are transitioning to is not that appetizing. My uncle was now part of what author Michael Pollan calls the “omnivore’s dilemma.” My uncle knew he needed to eat healthy, but was left w...
...e completely healthy attempting to avoid my punishment and then there were days where I ultimately caved and failed at eating well. On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.
At first, when beginning the diet, it was very difficult avoiding delicious, unhealthy foods but I soon began to develop a liking for healthier foods. My diet consisted of eating lean meat such as veal, vegetables and fruits. I ate five small meals a day to increase my metabolism and refrained from both meals and snacks after 6:00 PM. Soon after, the change of diet was not hard to manage at all and actually had formed into a habit. If I were to crave any food at night, I would simply just eat an apple. My self-control and discipline became habitual and I grew to not crave a box of Oreos anymore but instead desir...
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.
Overall, our bodies are a battle ground in which we fight off or surrender to society's projection of what beauty is. We eat for either nutrition, to socialize, to control our bodies or to explore worldly cuisines. The way I ate is highly influenced by the way in which society flows around me.

One cause for eating fast food habitually is that people may have learned this habit from their parents or someone close to them. They may have grown up in a household where eating at McDonalds or Taco Bell was an every night type of thing. Habits in general are usually picked up from family or friends that they are in contact with frequently and unhealthy eating habits are no exception. For instance, a child’s mother ate fast food
The healthier you start to eat on a regular basis the easier it is to pick fruits and vegetables over processed snacks and sugary goods. It takes about twenty one days to make or break a habit, so if you stick to your diet it becomes a routine to eat the right foods your body needs. Once you make this your daily routine you will start to feel better about yourself in many ways. You will have more energy, a better immune system and you will even notice yourself losing weight. It makes you feel better both physically and mentally. There are many diets out there to help you get on the right track with nutrition. The paleo diet and the volumetric food plan is just two of the many
First, I will address the root issue of many people’s eating habits, and then I will expand on why and how to develop a healthier lifestyle.
Not only have I started eating at home more I have been going to the grocery store more often than eating out but also starting to focus more on what I buy. I try to pick healthier snacks, such as: Almonds, yogurt (which I am considering to no longer buy), plain white popcorn and drinking water. I also buy 100% juice if I do decide to purchase any juice. I mainly keep bottled water stored in the pantry and refrigerator. Drinking water is ideal, healthier and a more beneficial option than Sprite and juice. My 4-year-old also chooses to drink water now that I have been consuming more water. Being that my life is so busy, it is difficult to stay on a healthier eating routine. I do believe that taking care of our body while we are younger in age is very beneficial to the body once older in age. It could decrease the risk of arthritis, if we exercise daily. Decrease toxicity and dysfunctions, such as diabetes or congestive heart failure. While enrolled in the course, over time, I have been greatly
My parents know that soda makes my stomach much bigger and they motivated me to change this habit. I used to drink a lot soda with chips, french fries, chicken and pizza. Something important that made me find out is, when we people like something, then, continuously start eating the same food for a very long time until we start disliking them. Since, I have drank soda for a long time, now I feel the same taste and the taste became old to me. My parents motivation and own realization made me accomplishing this habit. I believe, Human are creatures of habit. Overtime, We buy the same foods from the same grocery store, prepare the same recipes over and over. But, if we are serious about eating healthier and losing weight, then, it is possible to change those bad eating habits until it is too late. In order to maintain a healthy behavior, first one should start to prepare for it. It does not matter how small the habit is, over time they can have a huge effect on an individual’s health. Therefore, we have to be serious about changing our lifestyle in order to achieve the goal.
While I was tracking my eating for these three days, I began to learn about the benefits of the food that I am eating and the nourishment that they provide for my body. I had never realized how big of a role that the food that I eat plays in my everyday life. Eating has never been something that I really think about it is just something that I do. After I looking at the data of what I eat on Choose My Plate, I realized that my eating habits are far from balanced and that I needed to work on bringing my eating habits to a better balance. While there are a lot of things that I have been doing right, there are also many things that I can work on.
