Eating Healthy Plan Comparison Currently my eating habits have not changed much since the beginning of the semester. However, I can say that my choices of food to eat are healthier and I have been eating in smaller portions. Now I tend to look at the nutritional value when buying food. Since cutting back and making healthier choices, I can say I have not had a craving for sugar and have cut back on adding salt into my diet and use pepper instead. Not only have I started eating at home more I have been going to the grocery store more often than eating out but also starting to focus more on what I buy. I try to pick healthier snacks, such as: Almonds, yogurt (which I am considering to no longer buy), plain white popcorn and drinking water. I also buy 100% juice if I do decide to purchase any juice. I mainly keep bottled water stored in the pantry and refrigerator. Drinking water is ideal, healthier and a more beneficial option than Sprite and juice. My 4-year-old also chooses to drink water now that I have been consuming more water. Being that my life is so busy, it is difficult to stay on a healthier eating routine. I do believe that taking care of our body while we are younger in age is very beneficial to the body once older in age. It could decrease the risk of arthritis, if we exercise daily. Decrease toxicity and dysfunctions, such as diabetes or congestive heart failure. While enrolled in the course, over time, I have been greatly …show more content…
Type 2 diabetes is a condition that affects the way the body processes glucose. I stated things that I can do to lower my chances of having type 2 diabetes is watching what I eat, decreasing the amount of sugar, chips and snacks I consume. I can start now to try to eat more balanced meals and choose healthier snack options. Risk factors that contribute to type 2 diabetes are physical inactivity and moderate body mass index.
Type 2 diabetes is becoming more prevalent worldwide, as of 2013 there were over 387 million people with diabetes and at least ninety percent of them were from type 2 diabetes. How does Type 2 diabetes occur? Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body does not use the insulin properly, formerly called insulin resistance. In the beginning of this process the pancreas makes extra insulin to make up for the “insulin resistance.” But over time your pancreas is not about to make enough insulin to keep you blood glucose levels normal. 14Exactly how Type 2 diabetes occurs is unknown to scientists but they have found that genetics and lifestyle play a role in it. Genetics, although your parents may have this disease it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get it for sure but it does raise the likelihood. 16Scientist have found trends in ethnic groups and ages begin to occur in today’s day and age. Type 2 diabetes has been found to be more
The question comes up again; “How is your diet?” Jessica revisited her diet analysis from the first week of class. She noticed that some things have changed and some things, unfortunately, have not changed. She knew that some things would not change because of the hectic and busy semester and summer she had ahead of her but the things that did change surprised her. This class did some good for her, but she still needs some work on her diet and nutrition.
Nutrition, I have learned plays a big part in our life. To be honest I was clueless about how much nutrition affected our everyday lives. I love going to the gym working out, now that I know what should go into my diet I think I will see a lot more improvement. I occasionally follow the latest diet fads because I believed it would be better for my health, but in turn it really hurt more than it helped! This Diet Analysis project has been extremely useful course because I can personally relate to it and can use much of the information learned to my daily routines. The Diet Analysis project was a real eye opener because it let me see what exactly I was putting into my diet.
Parents always want what is best for their children. They strive to provide for them, teach them, and to watch them grow into healthy, loving individuals. Despite this many parents continue to foster a habit that may prevent the goal of good health, unhealthy eating. Americans today consume too much fat, sugar, and food in general and its shows; rates of obesity and weight/diet related diseases such as diabetes are extremely high. In order to slow and eventually put a stop to this trend parents need to not only be aware and informed, but also need to take action and institute healthy eating habits from the very beginning.
Most common people will see that they are suffering from type 2 diabetes. Unlike type 1 diabetes, type 2 is not because your immune system is attacking the insulin but is because your body simply does not produce the required insulin. 90% of people who have diabetes are diagnosed with type 2 (Medical News...
Overall, I am pleased with the changes that I have made to my diet, and plan to continue working towards my goals. In order to accomplish my goals in the future, I will try to slowly increase my fruit, vegetable, and whole grain consumption. Another goal that I need to work on will be to slowly limit the amount of meat products that I consume. Incorporating these changes will help me to accomplish my goals of increasing my calories and decreasing my protein intake to the recommended values set by the Dietary Reference intakes. As long as I can continue to practice these healthier ways of eating, I am sure to have a longer and healthier life and decrease my risks of chronic diseases as I age.
My genetic background is not predisposed to having a fulfilling old age – I have history of heart disease, strokes and diabetes in both sides of my family so it is important for me to live a healthier lifestyle not only for myself, but to show my child that this is a good idea from the beginning.
Through life we have many different stages to where we are either settling down for a nice home cooked meal or we are constantly on the go, running around our hectic lives, eating very unhealthy foods. Especially in our college years, students are always on the go running to and from class grabbing a burger and fries from a campus restaurant or eating the microwaveable foods like ramen. Many people try to eat healthy, but always succumb to the stereotype that eating healthy is expensive and takes too much time. This is a common misconception because there are ways in which anyone can eat healthy and on a budget as long as they eat proper portions, eat the right kind of foods, and excessive.
Seasonal fruits and vegetables are available all year because the supermarket has food imported from all parts of the world. I have stocked my pantry with quick meals like instant oatmeal, instant noodles, and canned soups. As I grown up my eating habits have changed too; the lifestyle busy university student doesn’t include healthy home cooked meals often, fast food and coffee are consumed frequently. I constantly eat at restaurants to spend time with friends; finding places to eat and trying out different foods is an activity my social circle enjoy. Nutrition is not a considerable factor in my daily eating habits, although I try my best to be healthy, connivence plays a bigger role at this point in my life. Although university is my roadblock to healthy eating, I have chosen to attend a post-secondary institution as individuals with a higher level of education have been shown to earn more money and live longer. The current unhealthy lifestyle is a small sacrifice for long term benefits, such as a low stress job and a high wage to be able to afford nutritious
There are numerous ways to maintain a healthy life style, and this is just one of them. Keeping a food diary has been most beneficial and allowed me to see my need for more proteins and realize that carbohydrates are something that I need to continue to watch. I am going to be trying to watch the amount that I eat and what I am putting into my body, so that I can live a healthy life.
Food has been known as an unavoidable component of life which makes it a basic necessity. There are two main types of foods:healthy food and fast food. Although they have some similarities ,there are a lot of differences between them. Healthy foods provoke energy and decrease the risk of so many diseases. On the contrary, fast foods are high in sugar and fat, which may lead to many health issues like heart and liver diseases. They both can be tasty and have several varieties to choose . On the other hand, there are two main differences between the two types. The first one is related to health . The second one is related to cost.
When comparing myself to the average American, I would say that my eating habits fall directly in the middle of the spectrum. I’m not a health food nut who obsessively counts calories, but I’m certainly not the person that eats pizza for all three meals. I have a ton of room for improvement, but I also have a long way to fall, if I let myself go completely. On most days, I seem to eat whatever’s around me, based on flavor and convenience. I eat most of my meals in Tower Dining, my dorm’s dining hall, and there are always several options during mealtimes: some of them healthy, some of them… less so. I typically pick the options that aren’t going to kill me within the next ten years but not the options that will add ten years to my life. My
While I was tracking my eating for these three days, I began to learn about the benefits of the food that I am eating and the nourishment that they provide for my body. I had never realized how big of a role that the food that I eat plays in my everyday life. Eating has never been something that I really think about it is just something that I do. After I looking at the data of what I eat on Choose My Plate, I realized that my eating habits are far from balanced and that I needed to work on bringing my eating habits to a better balance. While there are a lot of things that I have been doing right, there are also many things that I can work on.

Balancing the amount of food intake with high calories can lower obesity of such. Healthy eating is an important thing in today’s society, but the main thing that is hindering a person from doing so is the fact that the stores are pack with food that have very high calories. In fact, eating healthy is not just following a strict set of dieting tricks, it is about what is being put in the body, and it is also about how much is being put into the body. It doesn’t matter how healthy the food is, sometime to most of the time the healthiest food contain some of the most fattening ingredients. People should think about what they are eating. Even though people show
