This weekend was a rather special one, one that would change my understanding of heights forever. My 9 year old self bounded into the room bursting with excitement. I had been intently looking forward to this weekend for the past couple days now. My mom had given into the constant begging from me, to go to my friend Wyatt’s house. I ran into my car, barely containing my excitement. After a long, painful 30 minutes we finally arrived at Wyatt’s house. I slammed open the door and ran inside. I was immediately greeted by Wyatt’s mom and welcomed into the house. I ran right past her and into their house when I heard her yell,” Come back here right now! We both took turns trying to throw the stick over the first large branch. We threw and threw and threw but our tiny arms just couldn’t do it. With a long sigh we realized that this just wasn’t going to work. With a th last bit of my patience I threw the stick up and over a branch. It wasn’t the branch we were aiming for though. It was a much smaller branch that more than likely would not support Wyatt or me. We then strung the rope on other small branches to help support the load of our weight. I see Wyatt waiting patiently for me at the bottom. I asked him,” Did you just see what happened?” “Yeah that was crazy,” he said! I said,“Were you not able to make it up the tree? I was up there for quite a while.” He said,” No the branch broke underneath my weight.” I replied,” Aww that's too bad, my time up there was quite exciding.” I jumped down and went back inside with Wyatt. My mom was waiting at the door ready to leave. I said by to Wyatt, hopped into the car and went home. The whole experience taught me a lot of different things. First I learned that event though a challenge may seem huge, you can do it if you really want to. I learned to be careful, before this whole experience I had a problem of not thinking about the consequences. I would do things without thinking, I would just do. I still do that a little but this situation really helped me understand the consequences. I was really lucky that day, I don’t know where my brain learned to do that, and I don’t want to rely on luck
