For this assignment I decided to use the keywords “Mustang Cobra”, because it’s one of my favorite cars. I will search using Ask, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Dogpile, Webopedia, Yippy, TheInternetArchive, Mahalo, Yahoo, and Google. Then I will list the differences and also what I like and dislike about that particular search engine. I first searched “Ask.com”. The first thing I notice is that the “Ads related” section takes up all of my screen, which I don’t like. I actually have to scroll down to see any non-ad results. To the right of the screen is a small section labeled “Popular Q&A” It displays common questions associated with the keywords “Mustang Cobra”. The first true result is a link to a question on “Ask.com”, so they obviously promote there own website first. …show more content…

I first see two advertisement links. Below the ads is an “Images” section filled with pictures of Mustang Cobras. On the right of the screen is a “related searches” section that displays more specific search terms like “2015 Mustang Cobra”, “1969 Mustang Cobra”, etc. When I search “Dogpile.com” I see only four ads at the top. The results follow below. Similar to Bing a related searches section is on the right. Dogpile did a much better job at finding good results then I had expected. I search “DuckDuckGo.com” and immediately see a bar that stretches across the top of the page. Inside the bar is a photo of a Mustang Cobra and summarized information that was gathered from Wikipedia. I really liked that simple feature. “Google.com” first gives me four images of some Mustangs and a link to see more. Below the photos are the results. I don’t see any advertisements whatsoever, which I love. On “Yahoo.com” I see four advertisement links then the results. On the top right of the page there is a “related ads” section.
