I feel like one of the things I do well is multi-task. At my job, it allows me to multi-task with students and making sure things are getting done effectively and efficiently. For example, when we are busy at the beginning of the quarter, I am printing out schedules while I am getting books for students so I can make the student happy and to make sure we are not being bombarded. I believe that when a person multitasks they are getting two tasks completed for the price of one. However, one of the things I need to work on is scheduling time for sleep. I think that I neglect to get and adequate amount of sleep. For example, if I know an assignment or task has to be completed, I will stay up till three o clock or four and have to be to work at
Next, getting focused. Even if you do get enough sleep during the night, you might have a problem getting focused at your job or at school like I do. Napping can help you regain your mental alertness and get focused. For instance, the article on “ Ask the Sleep Doctor” by Too Sleepy and Dr.Vessel, the Sleep Doctor mentioned that “ On nights when you don’t get enough sleep, napping can help to recharge your body and increase your mental alertness. ” This statement tells us that napping can help you refocus on your work to complete it accurately as well as help you regain
Many times people think they can accomplish more if they could eliminate so much sleeping time. However, they are only hurting their productivity if they lose sleep. Two articles deal with the issue of sleep deprivation. The College Student Journal published an article about the grade-point average of college students and sleep length, while U.S. News & World Report produced an article dealing with the lack of
Sleep is one of our basic needs to survive and to function in day to day operations, but not everyone needs the same amount of sleep. Some people can survive on very little sleep, i.e. five hours a night, and some people need a lot of sleep, to the extend that they are sleeping up to 10 to sometimes 15 hours a night (Nature, 2005). According to Wilson (2005) the general rule states that most people need from seven to eight hours of sleep. The deprivation of sleep in our society in continually increasing with the demands in society increasing work loads, the myth that a few hours of sleep is only necessary to function properly and that sleep is sometimes considered as killing time (Nature, 2005). Sometimes sleep deprivation is also caused by other situations like sleep disorders, i.e. sleep apnea, chronic insomnia or medical conditions such as stress (Wilson, 2005).
When I am at home, having two younger children who are so happy to see their mother and are eager for my attention, I also try to multitask or what someone might call multitasking. Some of my responsibilities are making dinner, helping my children with their homework, cleaning, and trying to hear about their day. I jump back and forth to each until when it is time to get ready for bed. For bedtime, I support my children with more tasks like showers, picking out clothes for the next day, brushing their teeth and reading a book before bed with them. All these tasks are very conventional not really multitasking. I was quick to learn in motherhood it’s about doing one obligation at a time specifically if it is not as important. Learning to do this helped to make the hectic life of a mother far less
As my time in college has progressed, I have gotten less sleep each year. Back in high school and as I entered my first year in college, I had no problem sleeping and getting to bed in time to have a relaxing sleep. I was not perfect in my sleeping habits, but I always managed to get about five to six hours each night. I was usually in bed by around midnight or one in the morning. That amount of sleep was not the greatest amount, but it was more than most of my friends and family back home. However, as I furthered myself in my academic career and got more involved on campus, I have noticed issues sleeping and going to bed at a decent hour. Consequently, I have had trouble concentrating, feeling in good health, and feel exhausted as begin and end my day. I am one of the 35-40% of people who feel excessive drowsiness during the day (Ferracioli-Oda). Even when I do get enough sleep, I have to sacrifice half of my day, because I sleep in way too late, making me feel wide awake when it comes time for bed the next night. In addition, this lack of sleep often prevents me from feeling the need to exercise because I do not have the energy to run, which is my favorite activity. Therefore, I believe in order to increase my overall feeling of health and energy, my goal is to increase my deeply lacking amount of sleep until I am back at a healthy level each night.
We were born into the world as individuals that are destined for greatness, but instead we are regenerated by society to meet certain standards. As we grow older we aspire to be doctors, teachers, and firemen because we are taught to assimilate and think within certain limitations. There are a distinct few who stray away from this pattern and dream bigger than the common careers of society. Some of which aspire to be something more eccentric like a bike courier, flavorist, or greeting card artist. Although these children are amazingly unique, they are deemed to be unsuccessful and detached from society. There are two types of people in the world that are most easiest to influence, which are children and fools. Children are innocent and docile,
There are desirable traits that some people want. Some are born with those trait, but some are left without those desirable traits. My trait that a lot of people love and want is the ability to multitask and work quickly. This trait will give me opportunities in life and how I will use this trait in my future career.
If all of these important activities occur during sleep, why is it that people are so willing to short themselves of this vital activity? Although much about sleep still remains a mystery, research and experiments continue to show how important sleep is to each and every person. Throughout this paper, I will discuss sleep and the effects that it has on performance and health, especially among college students. A college student’s sleeping pattern is a reliable indicator of their level of performance in the classroom and other school-affiliated activities, as a lack of sleep leads to decreased performance. Sleep is directly related to the level of performance and health of an individual; the more rested a person is, the better that person will perform and feel (Dryer, 2006).
Productivity of a person with sleep deprivation tends to be on the low side of most scales. People with sleep deprivation produce worse results in the classroom, worse within the work place, and worse in their personal lives. People with sleep deprivation struggle to produce proper results, “products are like humans, if you can’t take care of them you can’t sell them” (Alsaggaf, 175). If people can’t sell themselves in life, they limit their options to succeed. Life is all about how well a person can sell them self to their desired objective. If a person isn’t capable of being them self throughout life, then they are limiting their opportunities to

According to the article:” 10 Things to Hate about Sleep Loss,” poor-quality sleep might lead to accidents and injuries on the job. Moreover, the studies show that during the working time, the workers who did not have enough sleep tend to have more work accidents. However, due to the work schedule or working overtime, they obviously had some of problems like that. As I have been studying at Mission college for more than 2 years, and I have been struggling with numerous homework assignments, midterms, and finals. I tend to sleep late and wake up early in the morning which leads to
I always have a good attitude before, while and, after I workout. Working out makes me mentally and physically feel better about myself. I think any kind of physical fitness is a huge confident boost for anyone. I mostly do cardio, I don’t have that much background knowledge in lifting but I also like to do ab workouts. Running is just so convenient when it’s nice outside or when you go to a gym. I run every evening with my mom at a trail I would say to the end of the trail and back is a mile. I also run with my asian friend Alex Tran, we try to run 2 miles every now and then. I can definitely see improvement in my endurance level. There is always room for growth when working out so I hope to improve, as of right now I feel as if i’m on the
