Without his naps, Da Vinci might have never had enough energy to paint the Mona Lisa, or Albert Einstein might have never become one of the smartest people in the world. After reading what you just read above, you might feel like you should start taking naps too. However, why should someone take naps? One critical factor in maintaining good health is staying active during the day. Napping can help you get rid of drowsiness during the middle of the day and help you stay active. For example, the article by Maria Allegra called “The Secret Truth About Napping” it is stated that “Winston Churchill, who helped lead the Allied Powers to victory during World War II, slept for at least an hour every afternoon. He stated that a nap could renew a person’s energy.” This statement from an expert shows the author also shares the same idea with me that, napping is a great way to renew your energy during the middle of the day if you didn’t get enough sleep overnight. Getting enough rest is a big factor for having better health and a good lifestyle. Next, getting focused. Even if you do get enough sleep during the night, you might have a problem getting focused at your job or at school like I do. Napping can help you regain your mental alertness and get focused. After taking a nap, people generally are happier than they were before napping. But why would someone want to take a nap to be happy? Well, happiness can boost our confidence level and our energy which we need every day. For example, In the article “ The Secret Truth About Napping” by Maria Allegra, it is stated that “After a nap, people tend to be happier and more alert.” As I stated before, this comment by the authors shows that napping can bring more happiness to your life, and improve your alertness.
However, many people argue that napping is not the best way to make up for lost sleep during the night. For instance, as stated in the article, “How much sleep is enough?” by The National Heart, Blood, and Lung Institute, napping cannot make-up the time you didn’t sleep at night and doesn’t have all the benefits that sleeping during the night has. Though I do agree with them about napping doesn’t have all the benefits that can be gained from enough sleep during the night, it can, however, boost your energy and your alertness that you need to keep on
