There are desirable traits that some people want. Some are born with those trait, but some are left without those desirable traits. My trait that a lot of people love and want is the ability to multitask and work quickly. This trait will give me opportunities in life and how I will use this trait in my future career. Multitasking involves you working as efficiently as possible and doing multiple things at the same time. This is commonly used when someone is behind on something and does not have a lot of time. When I do this however I don't do it for that reason but instead I use this for me to get my work done early. Moving around tend to keep the focus where it matters and reduce the amount of time you spend giving information. You do not
have to be born with this skill to have it ; it just takes a lot of practice. A skill that I also use is the ability to get work done as quickly as possible. This is a skill that you have to be born with no matter how much work you put into practicing to learn to do the trait. This trait allows you to work faster than what your going and still be able to get the same result at the end. This is a necessity to know and learn to top notch jobs that pay a lot. What would happen if you were born with both of these traits though? This is why I get jobs done the quickest in my class because I can do Multiple assignments at once, but I can do the multitasking quicker than most people. However i myself have had to sacrifice a few points on every assignment, but I get faster results. You might be thinking that I am crazy to sacrifice some points for it but the results are to good for me to describe and in the end it's not that much. You can’t do everything and while it is usually easier to say yes, handing out a few “no” answers help me have more time. I was born with both these traits and it has taken a long time to master combine them together, but it is finally worth it. A long time in my life i was not fast, but how i found out i had these skills were when i took a personality test and found out I could do it. These are my skills that I use daily that I wish that everyone has.
Although some people may think multi-tasking is a benefit because they can get more done, they don’t realize that the more they try to balance at once the less attention they are giving to the tasks at hand. In James Gleick’s article “Attention! Multitaskers,” he talks about how a young co-worker is having a conversation with the companies
In the article, “Multitasking Can Make You Lose…Um…Focus,” Alina Tugend centralizes around the negative effects of multitasking. She shows that often with multitasking, people tend to lose focus, lack work quality, have an increase in stress, and in the end she gives a solution to all these problems. Tugend conveys her points by using understandable language, a clear division of subjects, and many reliable sources, making her article cogent.
While in most situations these are desired traits, other times they can be weaknesses. For example, as a claims adjuster I work in a very high volume, fast-paced work environment. I talk to customers on the phone all day, and as an extravert, I have the tendency to carry on long-winded conversations with customers in an effort to build rapport. At the end of the day my customers are very satisfied with the level of service I have provided, however I usually have to stay late in order to complete all of my daily assignments in a complete and thorough
Today we live in a society where everything is seconds away from us. With the advances and affordability of quality technology, you would be hard pressed to find someone without a smartphone, laptop, or tablet, possibly all at the same time. Because of the accessibility we find that, in our tech-savvy culture, multitasking has not just become an art form of sorts, but rather an expectation. In the article “Multitasking Can Make You Lose…Um…Focus,” Alina Tugend sets out to explore the idea that although multitasking appears to show productivity, it could be doing the opposite. Throughout her article, Tugend uses studies done by neurologists and psychologists to show how in a world that sees multitasking as an expectation it has actually made us less efficient. She proposes, through studies, that although you might be working on multiple tasks it is as if you’re playing tennis with multiple balls (Tugend, 725).
Many would remark that multitasking is a skill that can be trained like all others. However, a lot of neuroscience has went into proving that multitasking is a myth altogether. The article “The Myth of Multitasking” is written by Nancy K. Napier for Psychology today is here to debunk the myth of the brain’s capability to multitask. The article states that the brain is incapable of doing two things at once. Instead, the way that we fool ourselves into thinking that we can multitask is how quickly our brain switches from one task to another. Our brains can’t perform tasks simultaneously as our focus is a narrow beam. So, to compensate for this, our brain switches between these two tasks very quickly, almost as if we are doing them at the same
Multitasking requires that a worker divides his/her time and energy on multiple tasks at the same time. As a result, the care and attention to detail is divided. The amount of focus that could be used to review one assignment is split. In an experiment, Patterson (2017) discovered that students who studied while participating in media multitasking took longer to complete tasks in their classes. This experiment addresses media multitasking in the case of students. While it is not a type of multitasking we normally consider, it does involve performing multiple tasks at one. Instead of putting all of their focus on their assignments, these students’ attention is on the assignment and on their social media. The results of the experiment prove that it when placed in scenarios where people are required to focus on multiple things, it takes more time to complete certain tasks. In this instance, media multitasking caused a decrease in performance. In another experiment, Paridon and Kaufmann (2010) made an observation when studying multitasking in the workplace, stating that people’s reaction time diminished when multiple tasks were completed at once. The believe that multitasking affects people’s performance has also been proven to be true in the workplace, as the speed of people’s production when down when required to complete multiple tasks. Performance can be determined by the speed in which a task is completed.
David Silverman provided four main reasons why multitasking can be a reliable source for doing many tasks at once. The first reason is multitasking can help a person collect pieces of information faster. Silverman used the example of him getting contact from a customer to make a slide, but wasn't available so his employee started on the slide. After reading his email, Silverman and his employee accomplish the slide within thirty minutes. This example shows how in a certain time a person can collect information quicker from doing another task. The second reason is multitasking can help a person from any distractions or interruptions from doing the tasks
Personally I am certain my strongest personality trait is my support. I am a very supportive person, particularly toward those I care most about but also to people I know that have a goal
The traits are important because some people are fast learners and other are better at retaining memories. Some people are shy and don’t like talking to people that is a trait that can be changed over time. Everyone one can think of a time they got over a fear and that would be considered a change. One time I was getting over the fear of being home alone with my family out on vacation. I forced in to getting over that fear by not going with them because I had school that I could not miss out on. I was left at home by myself for two weeks and I know it does not sound that bad but I have never been by myself before.
A trait is a distinguishable property of a person’s mind of which is largely consistent and partly influences his behaviour. The trait of a person is akin to the climate of a place.
Technology has always been improving over the decades, and now it has improved to the point where it’s a part of a human being’s life. People can’t imagine living without technology anymore nowadays, and especially college students who are always on their phones and laptops during lectures. That leads to what is known as multitasking, which is the ability to take care of more than one task at the same time. Multitasking has been popularized by students, and specifically college students, who think that they are actually successful at doing it. Unfortunately, according to Digital Nation: Life on the Virtual Frontier, after testing students who think they are brilliant at multitasking, results showed that they are terrible at every aspect of multitasking; consequently, it is not successful.
I gave this paper a lot of thought before I began to write. ?What qualities and traits do I posses that make me desirable as an employee, a teammate, and as a person?? First, you must be able to identify your own personal strengths and weaknesses in order to become a lifelong learner and an essential part of a ?team?. As technology is constantly growing you have to be willing to accept what makes you an asset or a liability in any given situation you may encounter in your life. The qualities and traits that I feel make me a valuable entity to my employers, co-workers, classmates and within my personal relationships are varied. I will go on to describe some of the attributes I think are most important in establishing and maintaining successful relationships whether personal or work related.
With the fast development of the Internet and digital space, a person can easily addict to being “plugged in” in this modern society. There are many electronic devices around us so people at first learn how to use and gradually get addicted with them. Addiction to being “plugged in” is a serious problem because of the negative effect from it such as health, the danger side of the Internet. Myself, as a millennial, who was born in a developing generation, can also easily get addicted to being “plugged in” but I know when and where to control my use in electronic devices.
What really is multitasking? There is a substantial amount of information on how the brain multitasks. And basically, it doesn’t. A person may see a teenage girl writing a text message, drinking coffee, and doing homework all at the same time, and think the girl is multitasking. People do not understand the true concept of what multitasking is. They are under the illusion they can do things simultaneously while they work, and think they are paying attention to everything around them, when they aren’t. What’s really going on is people’s brains are, they switching back and forth from task to task rather than doing it all at once. The brain is doing more than one task, but by ordering them and deciding which one to do at any one time. People will question of how others easily walk dow...
The character traits which I possess have opened many doors for me as I have transitioned into young adulthood. Determination being my most abundant trait is what has pushed me as far as I have made it in life. During many times in my life I have had to depend on my own self-determination to get through obstacles which attempted to hinder my success. My own determination is what I depend on when I have no other option but to rely on myself. This character trait is my most admirable because it got me
