Mrs. Christine Fishel, or Mrs. Chris as her friends call her, never lets the mundane tasks of life get in her way. She uses every opportunity to be a positive influence on the people around her. She is a woman of many roles. She is a wife, mother of two and a new Grandmother. As a former Marine, a missionary, and a teacher; she is well equipped to handle the different situations that come her way. With graying hair and piercing blue eyes, she is short in stature, but not in heart. She is a mentor to many as a substitute teacher, a manager at work, and a friendly face to her guests.
Mrs. Chris is more than “just the substitute” teacher at Westminster Christian Academy. Many of the high school students who attend attribute her determination

Fishel plays a significant role to many lives while she is at work. She is the General Manager of the Chick-fil-A in the Parkway Place Mall. In 2011, Carolyn had a turbulent home life. Her parents were in the midst of a messy divorce. Her only brother had run off and no one had heard from him in months. She had been bullied at her high school. She needed an outlet and her parents needed her out of the house. She applied at Chick-fil-A and had her first interview a few minutes later. Mrs. Fishel does not hire from the surface of an application, she has the ability to not only read people from where they are coming from, but also where they are going. She took Carolyn under her wing, she taught her how to have a strong work ethic, in addition to helping her to sustain a healthy relationship with the people around her. There were so many times Carolyn had wondered if life was worth living. Despite her troubled past she is now married with a beautiful little girl, never having to doubt her worth again. Mrs. Chris is more of a real mom to her than her birth mom. Because of this she has helped so many to turn their lives …show more content…
Chris knows how to make a personal connection with every guest. For example, when Mr. Bob’s wife passed out in the mall and required an ambulance to pick her up, Mrs. Chris brought food to him while he was waiting and was there to give them a lift when they checked out of the hospital. In addition, she brought flowers and cookies to frequent guest Naomi when she went into premature labor to her baby boy Levi. She has gone to countless graduations, weddings, and funerals. She has the biggest family of anyone I know in Huntsville.
Her biggest weakness is that she tends to put people’s needs before her own, and before her own family. She likes to stay busy to the point of excess. However, in recent months since the birth of her first grandchild, she has learned to take a step back and appreciate every
Failures can be more important than accomplishments because it makes us learn from our mistakes. Rosalyn makes mistakes even after being in her position for 10 years. Rosalyn was kind enough to share one of her failures with me. She had an idea to do payday loans, which caused the pawn shop to lose a great amount of money. A payday loan is an amount of money lent at a high rate of interest on the agreement that it will be repaid when the borrower receives their next paycheck. Many customers canceled their paychecks or did not pay the pawn shop back. Ms. Byrd still admits fault to this day for the loss of

Mary Jane was a woman from California she was married to a man by the name of Dan and they had two children Brad and Stacey. They had to move to Seattle because her husband Dan had gotten a job offer at Microrule. When they moved it wasn't long before when Mary Jane found a job as a supervisor at First Guarantee Financial, this was one of Seattle's largest financial institutions. It was real tough on Mary Jane but she went on, she had to support her family as a single parent. The third floor was a place that everyone talked about they basically bad mouthed about them, they did not have a good reputation. They were known as the energy dump. Life forced her to take on many roles: farmer, doctor, veterinarian, and most importantly, a mother who has raised her children courageously. She recalls the many nights caring for sick children and animals. She had to fence in acres of land and act as a midwife and nurse. She remembers lighting the lamps when her children were young. Granny was married to a man named John, but her strength was again tested when he died at a young age, leaving her to raise their chi...
Jill’s dependability is the reason of her confident approach to all of her tasks. During her job interview at the pancake house, Jill sets the tone, assuring the owner over and over again about her capabilities. She is also very confident in explaining her system of order and her knack of alphabetizing condiments. Hearing this, the owner, Howard Halloran, remarks that he would die happy if Jill was half as competent as she looked. After the whole conversation, the owner replies, “ ‘You’re hired,’ Howard Halloran said reverently, and put me in charge of opening and setting up the restaurant on Saturday and Sunday mornings, which is when nine-tenths of all pancakes in the universe are consumed and you don’t want some systemless person at the helm” (Bauer 196). Jill is familiar in being a crucial part of success, and she is ready to step in and achieve it. In her childhood, Jill moves quite a lot, and being organized and orderly becomes her way to adapt and have some stability. She always ...

Sara Jones, for example, mentioned that we as humans have been gifted in so many ways and are called to give abundantly. She said that for a Garrett student like her, she answers this calling by cooking meals at Hilda’s Place Transitional Center. Becca Cali mentioned that she feels convicted to be ever giving to those that are in need: for instance, spending time with those who are confined in their homes, which in her context was serving as an intern at the Presbyterian Homes. Focusing on her role in ministry, she said that she considers herself a story keeper, while the people that she serves are the story tellers. In her own words, she says: “I have a treasure box. I open the chest, display the stories to myself and then put them back. There are some stories that have to stay in there.” Furthermore, she called for followers of Christ to have an abundant spirit to serve people, for nothing is possible without God’s

An experienced second-grade teacher and African American female who has taught in Title 1 schoolings for 18 years. Title I school provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
