Minors Should Not Be Allowed To Get Tattoos Essay

The UPI shows the result of Harris survey that 21 percent of U.S Citizens has at least one tattoo in 2012. Today, many people have tattoos to show their religious or spiritual devotion, to remind something special in their life, or just to look nice and to follow social trends. The problem is that minors also want to get tattoos; even though their parents still don't want, minors want to do that to follow social trends. Moreover, minors don't understand how these consequences are affected to their future seriously. Therefore, minors should not be allowed to get tattoos without parent's permission.
Minors should not be allowed to get tattoos without parent's permission, because minors can get severe skin infections through tattoos. There are several ways which minors can get infections, but most of them are get from unsterile needles and inks. The Arkansas based National Center for Toxicological Research, research chemist Paul Howard and his team are investing that the chemical composition of the inks break down the metabolism and enzymes in the body (FDA).

According to CDC, they emphasized how many unsterile needles are important before they get the needle; unsterile tattooing equipment and needles can transmit infectious diseases, such as hepatitus. Most of tattoo inks are composed by different chemicals, and sometimes these could be toxic to body, especially in skins. When Minors get tattoos, their skins contact with chemical components easily. The reasons are always existed why parents don't allow getting tattoos during minor years.

Even though minors get tattoos, their parents don't have any damage in their life. However, these tattoos can damage to minor's social life - getting the job in the future and the recognition of society. In a careerbuilder.com survey, 31 percent of human resource managers said "visible tattoos could have a negative impact on their decision whether to hire someone" (Monty). For instance, when people see the woman who has the tattoo walked in the auditorium, people supposed that she is definitely party girl, probably drink a lot, has a lot of sexual intercourse and a rough childhood (Karim). It is true that the society view about tattoos are changed into positively. However, the example proves that many companies still have views against tattoos, and they don't want to hire people who have tattoos in their

body.
Even though minors can erase their tattoos whenever they want, minors have to spend more money and time for erasing. Lynn Monty says "the cost of removal is much higher than having a tattoo inked; a $100 tattoo costs $1000 to remove." Moreover, after minors get laser removal, they have lots of risks like scarring, pigmentary changes, superficial flaking of the skin or blistering, and temporary bruising (Arpey). The laser removal are not only expensive, but also harmful to minors. Minors can erase their tattoos whenever they want. However, they need to waste their money and time for surgery and restore. Even though they do the surgery, they still have a danger which can have more severe infections to skins through laser beams. Even if these were possible, are minors’ parents really want their children to do this surgery? Minors should be spending their time on their educations, not for tattoos and erase and restoring.
Some claim that minors can be get tattoos without parents' permissions. (Example) It is true that minors have their rights to make decisions by themselves. However, minors are not old enough to make better decisions, and to take consequences by themselves. For instance, when minors have the car accident, they try to notice their parents at first, because they don't know how they solve this problem. Moreover, they can't pay money to victims and insurances. Like the car accident, tattoos still have many consequences, and these are too heavy that minors take care by themselves. Even though today's aspects about tattoos are changed, tattoos still have more negative aspects than positive aspects.
Are minors' parents really want that their kids' decisions bring disadvantages to their future? Probably any parents don't want their kids' failure. Instead, parents want to help minors until they're ready for making right decisions by themselves. Today, minors' tattoos are one of the issue in the society. Minors simply want to get tattoos for showing and following the trends. So, look around neighbors. Are there any minors still want to get tattoos without asking to their parents? If yes, try to help them to discuss their parents at first for their lives, not for any benefits.
