The ringing was blaring in my ear as I woke up to answer the phone. My mom woke up and took the phone from my small hands just to hear those gruesome words, “ she’s gone” She broke down immediately. Obviously, I cried when I heard the news. We were told why she died. Cancer. That one thing you know is bad but aren’t informed about. I’m tired of this problem and it needs to be addressed. Cancer does a lot of things to our bodies and honestly, none of them are good. Certain types of cancer can cause our bodies to deteriorate. Take lung cancer for example, according to healthlinkbc.ca, “Lung cancer starts with abnormal cells growing from the lung. They continue to grow and spread and will eventually take over the entire respiratory system, causing lung cancer to be the leadIng cause of death by cancer.” Other types of cancer cause certain parts of our body to not work. Such as ovarian cancer, according to idph.state.il.us, “ If a woman has ovarian cancer she will likely get her ovaries removed, this makes it very hard/ almost impossible to have children.” Cancer is a very serious disease and causes certain parts of our bodies to …show more content…

They just assume that we know the seriousness of this disease. If we can create more awareness of this disease this won’t be such a problem anymore. Doctors tell us not to smoke or dip, but have you ever been told that drinking can lead to cancer? Take for example, pancreatic cancer, cancer.org states, “ Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest forms of this disease to diagnose. This is because there are no symptoms in the early stages, there is only warning signs of the person it affects. If a person is a drinker they are exposed to this disease.
