What is cancer?
Cancer is a topic that is always being talked about in the medical field. It is regarded in 4 stages, the first being the least intense and the fourth being the most intense. Cancer is a disorder in the process of cell division. During cell division 90% of the time the cell is in interphase with means the cell is growing/developing and working on replicating DNA, while also working on other cell functions. When a problem occurs, the cell likely skipped a certain checkpoint during interphase, hence not allowing the cell to carry out its functions. Mitosis, on the other hand, is about 10% of the cell cycle. This is the process of cell division creating another cell. The function of mitosis is important for cell growth and repairment of cells if the body is injured, but an unhealthy amount of cell division and replication, i.e. mitosis, can be dangerous. This can cause a tumor and lead to cancer. GOOD A kind of cancerous cells that have the ability to spread are malignant cells. Malignant cells are a result of over replication of cells in mitosis. Apoptosis is a natural cell process through the immune system that sends messages to the cell that is not functioning correctly to self-destruct and die. Ultimately, apoptosis helps prevent cancer (World of Genetics, 2007). This process occurs quite frequently and stops the cell from continuing cell division/ mitosis. When this natural cell process does not transpire then the cell will not function properly. Then replication will go wrong and the cells can potentially become a tumor leading to cancer (Xu, Qiao,Linke , Cao, Furth,.Deng, 2001). Cancer can potentially occur less if apoptosis took place more. Of the many types of cancers, kidney cancer is among one of the most known cancers and one of the worst cancers to have. Hence, there is not enough information and treatment for kidney
