LucasArts are one of the leading publisher’s and developer of interactive entertainment software for the games industry. LucasArts has placed its main emphasis in their gaming development on that of the vital elements of film, compelling storytelling, painstaking character development and vivid settings. Their games have consistently focused on touching people’s emotions and have received critical acclaim from both players and critics alike numerous Game of the Year honours, including multiple awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (LucasArts official website).Much of their recent success has been on the franchising of the companies two major films, Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

The result of LucasArts being a subsidiary company of LucasFilm has meant, for LucasArts, the exclusive rights to the most successful franchise of all time, the Star Wars series. According to Anita Frazier, industry analyst for toys and games at NPD Group, "Star Wars games generally sell very well, and the Star Wars franchise is one of the top 10 video-game franchises of all time."( Lane F, 2008) Another franchise of LucasArts the hugely popular ‘Indiana Jones’ series has an eagerly anticipated game in production.
LucasArts have always used this to their advantage and up until recently their games line-up almost consisted of all star wars titles. ‘Knights of the old republic’ and ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ have been two of their most famous spin off’s of the franchise. Recently LucasArts have diversified their operations, including the upcoming Fracture game, but their Star Wars titles still remain their best sellers.
The recently released ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ has become the best-selling Star Wars game, or of any game previously released by LucasArts , of all time shifting over 1.5 million copies of the title. LucasArts also underestimated how popular the game would become with ‘unprecedented demand’. “This further emphasizes the undiminished popularity of Star Wars” ( Faylor C, 2008 ).
Critical Acclaim
Through the years Lucasarts has built up a considerable amount of critically acclaimed titles. This has placed LucasArts as one of the leading publishers and developers in the industry. Many of these have been based on the star wars series, examples include lego Star wars, jedi knights and X-wing. Other titles include thrillville, Indiana Jones and Fracture. Two of their most successful titles, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars Battlefront, received rave reviews by players and critics alike.
The Star Wars Films are a great series of trilogies made by Lucasfilm, and thought up by George Walton Lucas. The original Star Wars films are some of the most well known known movies ever made. Until George Lucas retired and sold Star Wars to Disney for 4 billion dollars. But Disney had almost no experience making good sci-fi movies.

George Lucas is a proclaimed god in the film industry. His experience spans decades and his movies span generations. He is one of the most known celebrities in the world. With a flashy net worth of over $4.2 billion, one wonders how a mere writer could acquire such wealth. To understand this, one must delve deep into Lucas’ past and analyze his first success and his early failures.
During the early 1980s, Atari was the number one video game company in America. Atari had prophesized that they would turn an extreme profit during the time between 1980 and 1985. When Steven Spielberg came to Atari in July of 1982 asking to make a game version of his famous movie E.T., Atari promised him millions of dollars in royalties—even if the game failed—and that they could make the game by September of that year—an impossible deadline. At Christmas, 1982, E.T. The Game released. By the end of 1983, Atari had lost over $500 million and Warner Bros. sold Atari that year—leaving many thinking it was due to E.T.’s commercial failure. It’s rumored that E.T. The Game was so horrible that Atari took all the returned copies of the game and dumped them in a landfill in the New Mexico desert. Obviously, cause for a mass game “burial”. Quite possibly one of the most iconic openings in cinematic history is “A Long time ago in a galaxy far far away.” Of course, I am referring to Star Wars. It is such a fascinating and great movie going experience. There have been a total of seven Star Wars films, but in this essay I am going to be focusing on Star Wars: Episode 3- Revenge of the Sith. This film was written and directed by George Lucas and of the science fiction genre. Revenge of the Sith was released in theaters on May 19, 2005.

In the past few decades, The Walt Disney Company has expanded into numerous markets and diversified its business greatly. The company states that their corporate strategy is targeted at creating high-quality family content, exploiting technological innovations to make entertainment experiences more memorable, and expanding internationally. Upon studying the happenings of the company throughout the years, it is easy to see that the company is executing this strategy well through numerous strategic moves in the industry.
It has a huge impact on popular culture that people feel obligated to go see the films. Star Wars movies are shown and promoted nearly worldwide. In addition, Star Wars is one of the first films to have the most successful merchandise franchise. “These movies began building buzz long before they opened and commanded coverage in magazines and the emerging genre of infotainment television” (Bordwell and Thompson 683), basically Star Wars is a mega picture. It is everywhere and all over people’s faces, for example Episode VII has been promoted in the past year all over the world. The movie tickets in many theaters have sold out because people feel obligated to see it. On the other hand, films in the 1890’s did not have the type of promotion Star Wars has received, but a lot of people went to see the short silent films. Due to a few reasons: for entertainment, escape reality, popular culture, and going out to the movie theater to watch a film was a social norm at the time. When it came to merchandise, Disney was doing it for years, but merchandise did not make a huge impact until Star Wars. As a result, Star Wars changed and inspired new promotion and money-making strategies for all the Hollywood

There are many similarities between the two Star Wars movies A New Hope and The Force Awakens. If the plot between each movie wasn’t very similar, Kylo Ren’s resemblance to a certain dark lord of the Sith isn’t a coincidence. There’s a criminal element that’s owed a debt by Han Solo and attempts to kill him after he screws up their arrangement. J.J. Abrams made these films so similar because of various reasons; Considering the fact that you would have to watch all of the films in order to even acknowledge the similarities between the films, but to generate a healthy revenue. According to a “Fuel My Motivation” article (2010), this analysis considers internal influences that can positively or negatively affect our ability to achieve our goals. The internal factors are our strengths and weaknesses. Also considered are opportunities and threats, which are external influences that can have a positive or negative impact on the ability to achieve our goals. I will share how the self-assessment instruments and self-exercises in this course have contributed to assessing and understanding my strengths and weaknesses. I will also discuss techniques I will use to leverage my strengths and understand my weaknesses. In addition, I will consider opportunities that I can take advantage of and the threats that can possibly impede my progress.

Most people don’t like either prince of Persia or doom movies but loved the games. The points made in this article illustrates the main reason games and movies should not be intertwined. Because when you do no one tries hard to make a good movie, the fan base is pissed off and no one wins. In the end they company makes a quick buck but burn a lot of bridges to get there losing lots of trust and respect in the proses. These 2 great mediums for content should be treat as such 2 DIFFERENT mediums and given the respect they deserve. Movies need to find new ideas for movies and not reuse old completely unrelated mediums. They may make a lot of money off this kind of film but at the price of faith of the fans and the quality of reputation.
