Lean on me is a good film especially for school administrators and people who are thinking of becoming an administrator some day. It gives us a lot of insight in handling different challenges faced by administrators. There were a couple of interesting points that struck me while watching the movie. I especially liked the line at the start of the movie – “Discipline is not the enemy of enthusiasm”. This line is very true. It doesn’t mean that when discipline is established in school, the students lose the eagerness to learn. In fact, I believe that discipline goes hand in hand with the enthusiasm to learn. But the skill I would like to focus on is Mr. Clark’s decision making. I completely agree with Mr. Clark’s decision making. He was not afraid or threatened with the people who did not agree with him even if it meant being unpopular with the students and his peers. He stood firm with what he believes is right and good for the school. As an administrator, we should adapt the same courage in decision making as Mr. Clark. Administrators have to make a lot of decisions, whether big or small. And in making decisions, there will always be resistance, not everyone will agree with you. But as an administrator, you should not let this affect you. If administrators become unconfident about their decisions, they will be undermined by the teachers and later on might lose their credibility amongst the students and his colleagues. Students are motivated by many different things, for example Carly is motivated by chips. I remember when I was younger and took flute lessons, my teacher would give me candy if I practiced in between classes and improved. It also takes some students longer than others to learn things. It took Carly until she was 10 to really express herself. Even once she started typing she had to learn how to spell the words she wanted to write, she also had to learn to form sentences from those words. Some students might take longer than others to learn, as a future teacher we must be patient with the students and find the best way for them to learn the material. Another part of the book I found upsetting is when the general education teacher said she could not teach Carly anymore. She gave up on her without trying much to help Carly. The movie Stand By Me is based upon a novel by Steven King. It doesn’t have the same eerie feel as some of his other books and is generally a more serious movie. It takes place in the small town of Castle Rock, Oregon. It is the middle of the summer in approximately the early 1960’s. The kids are bored and that is the setup for their adventure to go find a dead body in the woods.
It 's not always about how things look on the outside, but more about your inner self. More about getting those individuals to believe in themselves.The film helped me to see the value of building up self esteem. I know in math some of the kids that say they don’t like math just had a bad experience with it. Usually I’ll try and give them something simple just to start to let them feel a sense of accomplishment. Then I usually will continue to build from there. This film never gets old. It’s still very relatable today and a young audience would be able to see themselves in any of those characters. This film reminded me that kids are coming to class with many different experiences, emotional phases, as well as insecurities. I must remain cognizant of them along with continuing to be that positive role model they need. Some students in School had big issues, like Doug Hann. Hann was a student from Brown University, and varsity football player at the University. He was living in the dorms at the University. He was expelled from the university for doing bulling to the black people. In October 18, 1990, Hann was screaming bad words towards the black people, he was celebrating his birthday and he was drunk. It was not the first time that Hann was caught saying inappropriate words to the people, 2 years before he was drunk at one bar and he curse scream words to a black people. In addition to constantly telling Peter no or we do not do such things Mrs. Stallworth seemed to heavily rely on the students to help with Peter’s behavior. In some ways Mrs. Stallworth’s behavior management seemed to work. Although, I thought there was a lot of room for improvement an example was the way Peter was only yelled and scolded by his peers when he kicked another student in the face during outdoor activities. The things it has taught me about the meaning of reading and evaluating other people and their personalities and who they really are. It actually came to mind a couple times, maybe I want to be a psychologist and help people with their problems. It just really amazes me how Perry’s dad can literally be the cause of four innocent lives gone. Throughout reading the book and watching both films, I began better at reading people and observing their personalities not only with the characters in the book but also outside the classroom and in the real world. The fact that everyone has a story and reasons they are the way they are. Perry had a story that no one knew about, and it has just taught me that everyone has one
There are few lesson I have learned from this movie. First, it is essential for me think about the pig picture so it give me an opportunity to fully understand the case. In this show is a person should think about all possibilities when it comes to making decisions, speaking to a person, or in everyday situations. For instance, the old man tried to put himself in the boys situation, and he had a different view. Not only did he have a standpoint, but also the eleven other men all had different views. It is very fascinating how Davis could think outside of the box, whereas the others believed the facts proved everything. The most important question is the fact always correct? In many cases, it is easy for people judge the situation and blame others and I believe this is a human nature. people make certain aspect to be the truths but we are not always true and twelve Angary men movies was a good example of that. The film displays the power of team decision making and the many aspects that affect decision making in groups. But on the other hand the movie is telling us that we need to do whatever we want with our knowledge to be happy in life. You do not necessarily need to be making the most money or driving the nicest car, you just need to do whatever is going to make you happy. Will makes the decision to not take the job right away but instead go after his girlfriend in California, because that is what is going to make him the most happy. All in all, this is a great book that I’ve ever read in my life. It really inspires me. I do agree with Spike Lee that this book had change the way I thought and it changed the way I acted. Throughout the entire film, there are lessons that are being taught. Whether is the central theme of not judging someone by their skin color but by their character or showing the essence of what the meaning of family really is. Through the setting, acting, and relationships shown it all comes together to make the perfect film. I recommend this film be seen by everyone at least once in their lifespan, because the lessons that are depicted in there are valuable. It is the perfect movie to go see with your family and makes you grateful and thankful for everyone that you have in your life. The film brings joy, happiness, tears, laughter and much more. Gender differences are best understood as a process of socialization, to organize the roles each individual have to fulfil in society. From parents to teachers, religions, media, and peers; we observe and make sense of the behaviors exhibited by the people around us since young. We imitate and construct our own understanding of how to be of a particular gender, and of how to position ourselves. Parents socialize their children based on their biological sex, and this process starts as soon as the sex of the baby is known. Gender is hence socially constructed.
