Should Hann Needed To be Expelled? Some students in School had big issues, like Doug Hann. Hann was a student from Brown University, and varsity football player at the University. He was living in the dorms at the University. He was expelled from the university for doing bulling to the black people. In October 18, 1990, Hann was screaming bad words towards the black people, he was celebrating his birthday and he was drunk. It was not the first time that Hann was caught saying inappropriate words to the people, 2 years before he was drunk at one bar and he curse scream words to a black people. It doesn’t matter if the person was white, black, brown, etc. If Hann was drunk on the time that insulted the black people, he didn’t have the right to insult the black students, because the students they didn’t do anything to Hann. In this case he was being racist to the black people, because he only reffered to the black person on the time he said “Fuck you, niggers!”. Another thing that I agree with President Gregorian to expelled Hann it because if Hann was racist with the Black people, that is giving a bad impression to the university, or that meaning the president is approved the bullying at the University. Also Hann was in the varsity football, so he needed to be the example for other students, that with effort can do many things study and play sports in school at the same time, not to be racist, and do bullying. If Hann was the student who was received the bad words I think he would get angry too. So I think that no fair to be racist with other people with another race, because if don’t want to get angry don’t make angry other people. Another opinion, it was not the first time that Hann had insulted the black people. What a coincidence that whenever he gets drunk, he only insults the black people. They began to mix the whites and blacks but there was tension in the school. The football team learned how to get along and accept one another, but the rest of the student body was having a hard time. In 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Brown vs. The Board of Education that schools needed to integrate and provide equal education for all people and it was unconstitutional for the state to deny certain citizens this opportunity. Although this decision was a landmark case and meant the schools could no longer deny admission to a child based solely on the color of their skin. By 1957, most schools had began to slowly integrate their students, but those in the deep south were still trying to fight the decision. One of the most widely known instances of this happening was at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. It took the school district three years to work out an integration plan. The board members and faculty didn't like the fact that they were going to have to teach a group of students that were looked down upon and seen as "inferior" to white students. However, after much opposition, a plan was finally proposed. The plan called for the integration to happen in three phases. First, during the 1957-1958 school year, the senior high school would be integrated, then after completion at the senior high level, the junior high would be integrated, and the elementary levels would follow in due time. Seventeen students were chosen from hundreds of applicants to be the first black teenagers to begin the integration process. The town went into an uproar. This case involved a public high school student, Matthew Fraser who gave a speech nominating another student for a student elective office. The speech was given at an assembly during school as a part of a school-sponsored educational program in self-government. While giving the speech, Fraser referred to his candidate in what the school board called "elaborate, graphic, and explicit metaphor." After his speech, the assistant principal told Fraser that the school considered the speech a violation of the school's "disruptive-conduct rule." This prohibited conduct that interfered with the educational process, including obscene, profane language or gestures. After Fraser admitted he intentionally had used sexual innuendo in the speech, he was told that he would be suspended from school for three days, and his name would be removed from the list of the speakers at the graduation exercises.

Charles R. Lawrence intended audience in his article “On Racist Speech” is college students and universities. His sense of tone is forthcoming. Lawerence word choice sets the tone by using the words conspicuous,dissenter, and bigot. The article gives examples of how universities do not protect minority college students. Lawrence states that universities should protect their students He also gives an example of how universities have tried to have rules to ban racist speech yet they have proven ineffective in stopping racial slurs. The regulations have not stopped the verbal brutality yet it has stopped the occurrences of physical fights. He mentions how students do not have any need to be hurt verbally.
The particular issue was whether a black girl, Linda Brown could attend a local, all-white school. Linda had to walk over twenty blocks to get to her school in Topeka even though there was a local school just down the road. Linda's class at her school in Topekawas big, the classrooms were shabby and their were not enough books for each child. The all-white school down her road was much better off, better education with a lot better teaching materials. The poor quality education and environment at Linda's school was because the Topeka Board of Education spent much more money on the white school than on Linda's school for blacks.

Bless Me Ultima has been banned in many states due to profanity, sexually explicit comments, and it being anti-catholic. The Little Rock, Arkansas incident was under the watchful eyes of people worldwide. The white citizens of Little Rock were very defiant and would not let the black students enter the all- white Central High School. The disturbance at Central High School went on for several weeks. The African American students tried to enter the school on several different occasions but each time they were greeted by an angry mob that blocked the entrance to the school.
The Supreme Court is perhaps most well known for the Brown vs. Board of Education decision in 1954. By declaring that segregation in schools was unconstitutional, Kevern Verney says a ‘direct reversal of the Plessy … ruling’1 58 years earlier was affected. It was Plessy which gave southern states the authority to continue persecuting African-Americans for the next sixty years. The first positive aspect of Brown was was the actual integration of white and black students in schools. Unfortunately, this was not carried out to a suitable degree, with many local authorities feeling no obligation to change the status quo. The Supreme Court did issue a second ruling, the so called Brown 2, in 1955. This forwarded the idea that integration should proceed 'with all deliberate speed', but James T. Patterson tells us even by 1964 ‘only an estimated 1.2% of black children ... attended public schools with white children’2. This demonstrates that, although the Supreme Court was working for Civil Rights, it was still unable to force change. In September 1957, nine African American high school students set off to be the first African American students to desegregate the all white Central High School. The six agirls and the three boys were selected by their brightness and capability of ignoring threats of the white students at Central High. This was all part of the Little Rock school board’s plan to desegregate the city schools gradually, by starting with a small group of kids at a single high school. However, the plan turned out to be a lot more complex when Governor Orval Faubus decided not to let the nine enter the school.
The case gained popularity across the United States due to the highly controversial topic that it presented to the highest ranking court in the country. Many americans supported Allan Bakke in his argument that the universities policies were both unfair and unjust, denying him of his rights as an american citizen, while many others supported the university's special admissions policy because it allowed for students of minorities to have a guaranteed acceptance into the university. The highly anticipated oral argument of the case took place on October 12 and presented a variety of valid arguments that had to be carefully considered by each of the six justices. The court found that the University’s special admissions program did in fact operate as a racially discriminative program because the applicants of the minorities were rated against one another. Four of the justices sided with Bakke, ruling that the universities admissions policy did violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964, while the remaining four justices ruled that the race is a permissible criteria to use in higher education admissions. The Supreme Court ordered that Allan Bakke be admitted to the University of California Davis Medical School, and allowed the university to continue to use race as one of the factors in its affirmative action policies. However, the court decided that the University's policy reserving 16 out of 100 seats for racial minorities was both unfair, and no longer permitted because it violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth
“Stuff they had in seventh grade and eighth grades, we were just getting as junior and seniors in black school” Teachers would either not have the materials to be able to teach or intentionally teach slow so the African American kids would have a more difficult time in life. At this time in the south schools were kept separate. Schools up north had already integrated prior because racism was not as much a problem as it was in the south. Little Rock was one of the first schools in Alabama to integrate black and whites into the same school. Little Rock admitted nine African American students giving it the name “The Little Rock Nine”. After the federal law was passed by the supreme court in 1964 allowing black students to go to the school of their choice, nothing happened for three long years. The governor of Alabama (Orval Faubus) employed the national guard to blockade the school only admitted white students. This went on until President Eisenhower deployed the 101st Airborne Division. The national guard backed off and the nine students would attend school. In the beginning it was smooth sailing. People for the most part would not pick on the blacks.
