As a leader, I will strive to lead people more, and manage them less. In other words, being able to articulate my vision and allow my followers to grow and develop confidence is the main outcome of my leadership. It is also leading with the perception of change as an opportunity, rather than an obstruction. I often struggle with the delegation of tasks because I am a pedant; however, conveying that sense of trust is essential to strong relationships between myself and my followers. My leadership will incorporate the overall objective of my mission statement and strengthen my sense of my own identity through my core values. Overall, I can continue to build upon my existing leadership skills by evaluating how I perceive opportunities and challenges …show more content…
Learning how to delegate tasks effectively and being more self-aware are the main competencies that I want to improve upon. I struggle with entrusting others, especially with important tasks. However, I aim to mitigate this by leveraging the skills and commitment of my followers to accomplish goals and objectives. Being cognizant of my own strengths and weaknesses is also one aspect I want to develop in terms of leadership. This will ensure that I can adapt my leadership styles to the developmental styles of my followers to better empower and motivate them. As such, I want to take on leadership roles to empower and energize people. This involves communicating openly, interacting with people of various backgrounds, and actively listening, supporting and helping my followers and team members. As an ENFP on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, I am observant, friendly, and a natural communicator. To grow as a leader, however, I strive to take on more analytical leadership roles. Gathering information and managing change in a strategic way will help better network and understand …show more content…
My understanding of others and their needs and skills will allow me to best motivate my team. I plan on treating people with respect and openness regardless of whether they are my followers or my superiors, as this will foster an environment of openness and co-operation.

Ultimately, this assessment allows me to reflect on how I can improve in several aspects of my leadership.
In order to become better leaders, individuals need to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Though individuals can identify strengths and weaknesses through formal processes, they can also use informal means such as self-reflection. The fact that individuals have a tendency to gravitate toward the things they do well, things such as ease of learning, tendency to participate in certain activities, and satisfaction gained from performing specific tasks can provide clear pointers to underlying talents (Key-Roberts, 2014).

Self-awareness: leaders with high self-awareness understand their strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, they identify their own capabilities and limitations that eventually will make them able to push themselves to the limit.
Ways to enhance and develop my communication and social skills as leader are to be more self-aware, to know and understand different audiences and their communication needs, to be clear and specific in communication efforts, and interpret body language. To be self- aware is to recognize and understand one’s beliefs, values, strength and weaknesses. By knowing and understanding my areas of needed improvement, I am becoming more self-aware and I can progress in the areas of weaknesses. Self-aware also means being in tune with surrounding and being able to analyze and understand my part in different situations. Additionally, being able to adjust and adapt communication to different audiences helps to increase effective communication, as deliver multiple messages allow for more communication efforts.

I believe I am a strong leader and I use my leadership abilities to improve the school as often as I possibly can. One of my strongest leadership skills is communication. I believe that it is vital to talk to others and get others input before making decisions. In the school, I ask other students their opinions on different events and I bring them back to the council frequently. Another leadership ability I possess is creativity. I always attempt to come up with creative and unique ideas to contribute to the council. For example, in meetings I always attempt to share new and different ideas to benefit the council. An important skill for leaders to possess is organization. I show this trait by using a binder to organize my agendas and showing up to every meeting.
I believe that leadership is something that should be earned. Whoever is the most qualified and passionate should be the person who leads, not the most popular. I believe that having integrity and expecting it at all times from your team is the best way to operate. I believe that leaders cannot always be the “good guys” in every situation. I believe that it is important to find people who will help you most achieve your goal, but ones who are loyal, passionate, and want to grow personally. Mutual respect in any situation will allow for people to speak their minds, even if it is difficult. I want to help my team members find their passions and help them succeed outside of our organization. I believe that leadership is about encouraging
Leaders are the individuals who help to create options and opportunities. They help in identifying the choices and solve the problems. They build commitment and coalitions. Leaders do this by inspiring others and working along with them to construct the shared vision of the possibilities and commitments of a better group, organization or community. They engage the followers in such a way that most of the followers become leaders in their own right. The variety of demands of an increasingly complex world very often require that leadership be shared by most of the members of an organization, in appropriate ways for different situations. ...ers so that they will try to be a better person each and every day. I want my leadership to encourage others and help them grow as a person. I want my leadership to help others more than help myself. If my leadership is helping others achieve their goals in life, then I will be happy. My leadership philosophy is basically all about helping others. Leaders will be remembered for what they did for others not what they did for themselves.
Leaders can have a powerful impact on the futures of many, and the way in which one approaches leadership is paramount to the type of impact one will have. Continual growth in the areas of knowledge I have and seek to acquire, as well as recognizing my leadership style and utilizing my personal strengths to the fullest, is vital to the successful implementation of my personal philosophy of leadership.
When considering the term management, there has always been a common miss conception that this automatically makes an individual a leader. Leadership is only a single element of the management role. Many times managers are more comfortable utilizing a particular leadership style. While this may work well the majority of the time, certain employees or situations may require a different approach. Good leadership requires that the individual recognize the need for change to motivate their employees to accomplish the task at hand or to reach common goals. Understanding the importance of leadership is essential. However, the key element to focus on is what steps can be taken to improve one’s leadership capabilities. For many individuals this may be a difficult question to answer and may only be possible through self-assessment and reflection.
Leaders will no matter what have an influence on our world. They have missions, dreams and ambition, and with these things they are bound to go far. For leaders, what makes these dreams come true is having strong qualities such as leadership practices, values and strengths. If developed and learned how to use correctly, these are what take leaders to the next level and accomplish great things. In the following paper I will talk about leadership in our ever-changing world, explore my leadership practices, values and strengths as well as elaborate on the goals I have made to challenge myself as a leader.
Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. Being part of groups in university for class presentations, being the organizing secretary of my campus fellowship, being a youth leader in my church and the church admin, also being part of a family. Leaders are charismatic, inspirational and trust worthy. I have gained some important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Most of the valuable leadership’s characteristics that I obtained and strengthened are: learn to become a better leader every day, how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to be an effective communicator, to have more patience, not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic. You are a leader if someone else choses to follow you.
The second leadership area for improvement is Inspire a Shared Vision, specifically inspiring. The reason I have chosen this area is because I want to ignite that passion in others that I know I have by enlisting others in a common vision by appealing to shared aspirations. It can be tricky sometimes envisioning the future and all the possibilities, but I do want to inspire and have people believe in me. If I run my own business one day I want to be able to inspire others and see a positive future for myself and my company. I also want to be a great leader and run a successful company, which is why I need improvement in this area.
Indeed, Leadership is not a position it’s a rewarding responsibilities. As such, I will continue to be a productive and efficient leader by maximizing my skills and knowledge to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students. I will continue to reinvent, enrich and improve myself to make a significant difference in the lives of my students and of those I have come in contact with. I want to be an agent of
