The second leadership area for improvement is Inspire a Shared Vision, specifically inspiring. The reason I have chosen this area is because I want to ignite that passion in others that I know I have by enlisting others in a common vision by appealing to shared aspirations. It can be tricky sometimes envisioning the future and all the possibilities, but I do want to inspire and have people believe in me. If I run my own business one day I want to be able to inspire others and see a positive future for myself and my company. I also want to be a great leader and run a successful company, which is why I need improvement in this area. “If you are going to be an exemplary leader, you have to be able to imagine a positive future” (Kouzes et al., …show more content…

Something I can do to help is envision the future and imagine the possibilities. I want to have the ability to be forward looking. I have to again, picture a positive future, for myself and others and have clear pictures of my hopes, dreams, and aspirations to lead and inspire. I want to strengthen others, enable others to act, engage all who must make the project, especially as a leader, and run a successful business one day. I can be competitive as well, which can get in the way of focusing on everyone in the company, so this is another reason I have chosen this area. A dream cannot become a reality without a team effort, trust, strong relationships, and group collaboration (Kouzes et al., 2012), so I need to improve this area of leadership in order to enable others to act and run a company, let alone a successful one. Strengthening others will also push others to be more motivated and exceed their own expectations. They will push harder and putting that focus on serving other people’s needs will build that trust between them and I. This will also cause them to take more risks and be more comfortable with change too. I want to build others and strengthen others as a leader, which is why I have chosen Enable others to Act, specifically strengthening others as my leadership area for
