The role of a leader is often inaccurately defined as an individual who is in a position to give orders. However, there are enormous differences in the attributes of an outstanding leader, and one of mediocrity. An outstanding leader, above all else, is a role model for their peers. In doing so, a leader of the highest caliber is trustworthy in both their peer’s trust for the leader as well as the leader’s trust of their peers. A leader must also display exceptional skill in communication which transcends speaking and, more importantly, includes listening and consideration to the ideas presented to them. Furthermore, a leader must be supportive of and willing to help their peers build their own strengths. The attributes listed above represent only a small subset of what makes an outstanding leader. In this essay, Rodriguez uses the term of a of a “Scholarship boy” meaning a “good student” and “troubled son”, he believes that being a scholarship boy makes him feel separation and isolation as he goes further in his education and Rodriguez insist that the feelings of separation and isolation are universal feeling.

The first type is referred to as a “banking” education. In this type of education, information is “deposited” into students by their teachers.

One very important aspect of a great leader is to lead by example. Any person in a position to guide others cannot ask the team to do one thing and act in the complete opposite way. This is a sure way to show that the leader has a need to show power and quickly loose respect from those who should be learning from him or her. Being a role model is importan...
Finally, relationships in the work place and in our personal lives are one of the most important aspects that define us as individuals. Everyone knows how much more can be accomplished in a situation where there is a good working relationship verses the opposite. In a leadership role it is important to have a good understanding of each individual team member. This understanding can include what motivates, what is important, and how the leader can tap into these resources. As each of us progress in our leadership roles, it is important to remember, it’s not all about me. I believe once we accept any type of leadership role, we accept the responsibility to serve others. If we consider it only for personal gain, we will probably not be remembered as a good leader.
Growing up I have always taken on leadership roles. I was always the organizers of group projects and was team captain of my club and high school soccer team for several years. This past experience with leadership roles has lead to me developing several of valuable traits associated with leadership. For example, I have strong communication and problem solving skills, which have helped me in my past leadership positions and will continue to be an asset in the future. Although I have had experience in leadership roles in the past, I learned through this reading that there is room for a considerable amount of growth. One thing that was a valuable lesson for me was that leaders must be followed as well as follow others at times. I have always took control of situations and tried to lead others, but now I realize that sometimes even leaders need to take a back seat and let their followers take some control. I will employ this in the future in the clinical setting to ensure that all of my subordinates or colleagues feel they have control and power over the decisions being made. This is definitely an area I intend to grow in and utilize in the future to enhance my leadership abilities. In addition, another lesson that I will put into practice in the future is building meaningful relationships with my colleagues. As a
Introduction People always talk about how important it is for companies to have a good leader, someone who not only keeps the blue numbers, but also achieves a loyalty from customers, pleasant working environment, successful business partnerships and ahead of the competition. To exercise effective leadership, the individual must meet certain parameters, which if they are carried out successfully all of them will ensure a long life to the organization. The relationship with partners should be based on trust. Do not just give employees a list of tasks, encourage their views so that their skills might be enhanced for advancement.
I learned that for me to be an effective leader I have to be able to change follower’s behaviors, and make them both satisfied and perform well. When I become a manager I have to realize that I will be working with a diverse group of people and what works for one person might not work for everyone. It is important to have a leadership style that leads to positive outcomes that is valued by the organization. I think it will be important for me to make each employee feel like they are appreciated and that their voice matters in the company. I think it is important to give frequent feedback so employees can know how their performance and know how they are doing. I would like workers to see me as a fair manager that distribute duties and outcomes fairly doesn’t show favoritism. I would like to be able to keep everyone motivated and working together as one to keep employee moral high so it can benefit the
Furthermore, the help from the community must be accessible and community members must be able to co-operate for the common good that will be reflected in every child in the future as a result of a quality education. The government, as part of the community, is responsible for finding a convenient way to ensure that every child in the country, no matter where they come from and what their social status is, can have the same opportunity to succeed in the future through education. Regarding the government, Pedro Noguera, a professor at New York University, indicates that the system that the government had implanted in education needs to be renovated by giving a new curriculum to the teachers at school that goes beyond measuring learning and accountability, a curriculum that motivates the teacher and students to move forward (Noguera 1). Noguera also highlights, “Rather than taking steps to ensure that students in failing schools are taught in enriched learning environments and exposed to creative and effective teachers and stimulating curricula, the narrow pursuit of higher test, schools has reduced the focus of education to test preparation in too many schools” (Noguera 1). The key to a flourishing education cannot be based on passing a standardized test.
By allowing for employees to be increasingly engaged in workplace activities, they are then given the opportunity to develop new skills. Most leaders also encourage for employees to participate in team building activities so that any employee would be more comfortable and have stronger chemistry when working with other members of their respective departments, and with other employees in the company as a whole. Leaders are capable of motivating their subordinates through a series of actions, such as words of encouragement, acts of appreciation, and allowing for employee involvement in key decision making processes in the company. For instance, leaders who appreciate, constantly encourage and assist in the improvement of the tasks performed by their subordinates will be able to build a strong and healthy employer-employee relationship. This good relationship instils the traits of confidence in employees and motivates them to enhance their performance. Excellent leaders commonly try to develop a dialogue or establish open communication with their subordinates. Employees who are well
