1. Why are you applying for this position? When I first started going to Key Club meetings, the first thing that appealed to me was the leaders. The officers were nice, experienced, enthusiastic, and cared for everyone. This, to me, set them apart from all the other clubs. When I became a board member, the officers instantly welcomed me into their Key family. They worked alongside me, taught me, and guided me. After every activity, I felt satisfied that I had left an impact on the bigger picture and that my skills as a leader had grown. I am applying for club president to give others the same experience and opportunity I have been given: to impact and empower the people around me and have a fun time while doing it. I want to have a welcoming …show more content…
This way, Key Clubbers can plan for meetings (so that they don’t miss them) and stay informed. In addition, I also want to make sure that people have the chance to work together, build camaraderie, and voice their own …show more content…
4. What are your goals for next year’s Key Club? I want to have at least one service event each month, at least one social event each month, at least one officer at every division council meeting, five more people than last year’s Key Club, and 1500 total service hours. I also want the club to grow closer together and become a family. Key Club is a smaller club, which gives the president an opportunity to not only build relationships with every individual member, but to also bring the club closer together as a whole through team building. My goal, as a leader, is to get to know everyone in the club so that I can help to create a family environment. 5. What other extra-curricular activities are you involved with? How will you effectively manage your time between Key Club and your other activities if you are selected as an executive officer? I am involved with Boy Scouts, taekwondo, and high school swimming. High school swimming starts at the end of February. Boy Scouts and taekwondo are year-round. During months of overlap, I will balance my time, delegate duties to the other officers, and devote time to Key Club. I will put Key Club first and make the sacrifices necessary to do my
Overall, I was grateful for this experience. I was able to find out more about the behind the scenes responsibilities of our schools’ leadership.
This club is not only fun, but it's like going to a meeting with some of
Ambassadors give tours to prospective high school freshman and give them a feel for what high school is all about. We would share experience and give advice to prospective students regarding classes, teachers, activities, and sports. I loved interacting with both students and parents and showing them how amazing my high school was, and I want to be able to do the same for Questrom. I am a very outgoing, independent, and a social individual, which are all important qualities Dean’s Hosts must possess when speaking to prospective students and their parents, as well as alumni and distinguished speakers. I enjoy speaking to and getting to know different people and I believe being sociable and friendly is one of the most important traits a Dean’s Host must
In my junior year of high school, I joined the leadership program called ASB, also known as associated student body. I had the honor and role of being the school’s unofficial videographer to promote events with videos and short films posted on our social media sites because of my passion for video editing and artistic abilities. I also became responsible as being chairman for one of our committees to organize special recognition events for our senior athletes. ASB made my work stressful and challenging, but it was a good way to connect with others.
Overall, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be an Area Officer so that I can better serve my fellow members, the FFA, and my community and world. As a leader I would put into practice the characteristics I have previously talked about. I would strive to always be open minded, a good listener, available to assist member, serve all those in the organization and our communities, and represent the FFA to the best of my
Leaders should exert a positive influence on the member’s school. A real leader strives to train and aid others to attain the same objective. No matter what power exists, you are ineffectual without the guidance of a leader. The NJHS is completely made up of leaders that will make their school a better place.
I agree with the authors’ idea of “Building a wonderful workshop”. This chapter speaks on making our mission our main idea while remembering our core values to help us stay focused on our teammates and purpose. Our mission, values, and team are the foundation, cornerstone, and core of what we do, how well we do it, why we do it, and how we see each other in our given roles. If we as a team earnestly keep this statement and all it incorporates as our focus, then I believe the other eight “secrets” cannot be far off.
This journal entry will discuss and provide examples of core values of a group leader and core knowledge of a group leader. In addition, the references that were used for this assignment include information from Chapter 3 in the textbook and the transcript and video tools provided for completing this assignment. Furthermore, the examples I provided may not necessarily fit exactly, however, to some degree they do and do not. However, I tried to find some examples that represent who I am and I believe that when reflecting upon these examples they do show a great reflection of many things that do fit.
Inspire a Shared Vision- leaders believe that they can make a difference in getting others excited and drafting them into their dream and the future possibilities.
As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
2- Desire to lead: They good at motivating and influencing others. They hold responsibility and accountability on what the group does.
For hundreds of years it has been recognized that not all learning takes place in the classroom. Students mental and social development also occurs outside the classroom in athletics, music, and clubs. No matter what club the student is involved in, he/she fosters organizational, interpersonal, communication, planning, critical thinking, financing, and evaluation skills. A club gives students the opportunity to combine components of their mental and social development into personal action. These students have opportunities to test their skills and talents in different situations. Students will always work together to set goals, develop action plans for achieving those goals and implement those plans. Doing so, students could develop and maintain working relationships and friendships. The soul of a club is the students, but it also consists of many things that happen behind the scenes.
