This is my career of choice because I was in the system at a early age. In addition, they help out the community. I don’t like the way the system is ran at times so it would be in my best interest to pursue something that will challenge me.

This would be a challenging but interesting career of choice because I like children, but not the system. In my opinion juvenile justices system is ran unfairly and very poor. When it comes to recognizing behavioral issues and mental issues. I feel that I will change and help the youth while helping them out the system and work on behavioral issues. Most people choose careers for the salary, but I feel that if everyone is in it for the money whos really here to help our society. When I do something to help people I want them to truly feel helped. I’m not choosing a career for money im choosing for change. People need to understand that making the most money isn’t always the way to go to have a really
effective change in society. To start my career there will be many steps and challenges ahead of me. However, a limited number of schools offer bachelor's degree programs in juvenile justice or criminal justice with a juvenile justice emphasis. The juvenile community corrections population has experienced a tremendous growth over the past two decades. In cities like Miami, Florida in places like Liberty City, called “Pork and Beans,” the volume of adjudicated youths ordered to formal probation increased by 67% according to Adams (2011). Juvenile crime has been on a rise, in Miami, Florida since 2002. The police believe that young people are becoming targets, more than before because they are young and are sending them to juvenile court. This growth has had serious inferences for juvenile probation officers that make frequent choices about the case management of juvenile offenders on a daily basis. Juvenile probation officers have to type dispositions and assignment references,
Parole Officer I am writing about being a parole officer. I am giving information on them. My mom was on probation so I have had my experiences with probation and how it could affect one’s life. They focus on keeping people that were in jail under control, when they get out.
The career of a correctional officer has always captivated me in a way that is difficult to explain. Even as a child, I recall tuning into shows such as Lockup and Lockdown. In fact, my earliest, most vivid memories consist of me sitting in front of a TV screen with my eyes mesmerized by the hardened criminals visioned on the screen before me. It may seem peculiar, but I’ve always pictured myself inside the prison walls. What’s even more peculiar is that I’ve seldom visioned myself as a correctional officer; in fact, I’ve almost always visioned myself as a prisoner. Given what’s been said, one may ask me why it is that I aspire to be a correctional officer. And the answer to that question is rather simple. I want to be a correctional officer because I thrive for a rush of euphoria to course through my veins. And being a correctional officer will allow an endless supply of euphoria to course through my veins. And with that said, I don’t need to further explain why such a career is what I long for.
I will establish my career working on the corrections side of Criminal Justice. Specifically working as a probation officer focusing on juveniles. I have long thought that I could make a difference in young people’s lives if I were able to get to them soon enough. By the time adults enter our correctional system the dye has been cast and it is much more difficult to get them back on the right path. It seems to me that keeping them on the right path to start with is a better approach. So, in five years that is exactly what I will be trying to do.
The future of the juvenile justice system is promising. The methods and approaches utilized should continue to improve in the next twenty years in the same way that they have improved over the past twenty years. Addressing the main factors that contribute to juvenile offending will help to solve the problem of delinquency in the United States. Juveniles in the present system do have the ability to straighten out their lives. This might be less challenging for them than it has been in the past, but hopefully the future will make the road to reform easier for them.
There are some important character traits although that an individual also must obtain. As a potential probation officer, you must have strong communication skills. You need to have this skill as you will be communicating with offenders, their families, treatment specialists, and judges on a regular basis. A probation officer has to frequently write reports, which means you must also have strong writing skills. Because of all of the paperwork you must also be highly organized. Another thing that is required of you is to be prepared to handle high-stress situations. There are many stressful aspects that come along with this job (Probation Officer Careers, Jobs and Degree Information). The educational requirements for this career are not too extensive. To become an officer you need to have a bachelor’s degree, at a minimum. This could be in a field related to human service. Some of the best degrees for a potential officer include social work and criminal justice, even possibly studies of psychology, sociology, or criminology. The school that I have chosen is Edinboro University, which is located in Edinboro Pennsylvania. Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is ranked RNP in Regional Universities North. Schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence (How Does Edinboro University Rank Among America's Best Colleges). In order to get into
When I first realized I had an aspiration to have a career in social work I originally wanted to work with youth and adolescents. Initially, I decided youth and adolescent because I had dealt with many difficult experiences as an adolescent, which required assistance of social workers, and counselors. I was very thankful for the support I had which benefited my life in many ways, and dreamed of being able to do the same for other struggling youth.
I have always put people before myself when it comes to my actions and to my feelings. I have always wanted to understand what other people are going through and how I can help that. I soon discovered that I also had a love for our country’s criminal justice system. I figured that if I can start out in the one place where individuals need the most help that I could make the greatest impact. My love for people, science, and justice turned out to help create not only the perfect major but the perfect career for me.
Do to the many reasons listed above I have high hopes for this field, after the military I was dead set on using the skills I learned throughout my time in the Army, back home in the civilian sector. My one thing I tried to keep in mind was my family, as a Probation Officer the time requirements should be drastically less than that of the military and that played a huge role
Placer County Probation Officer Mark Eger, came to our class on September 23, 2016 to convey the different aspects of a career as a probation officer. I am the best candidate for juvenile probation officer because I've had extensive experience with juveniles in difficult situations. I have been a paramedic transporting 15 year olds who have just been involved in suicide attempts. I rode with them for more than an hour and discussed their situations with them. I interacted with their parents. The same applies to my experience with Children's Protective Services. I have been able to cope with irate parents and angry and rebellious teenagers. I have been involved with a twelve year old child who was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and had to assist his adoptive RN mother through situations where he was threatening her life physically. I have worked extensively with trying to match the appropriate
First let me start my saying that correctional officers has a very important role with keeping our nation safe.Being in the Law Enforcement field has always been my passion. Joining to corrections will provides an opportunity for me to serve and protect my community. As I mention before correctional officers are a very important part of the Law Enforcement field handling high profile criminals on a day to day basics and keeping our nation safe and I would love to part of that.
I, William Fletcher, submit the appeal for strong armed robbery. I am currently adjudicated at Excalibur Youth Services serving a guideline of fifteen to twenty-four months. I’ve served twenty-seven documented months. I can prove that I’ve made tremendous changes in my attitude and life style choices due to my involvement in various programs that the department of juvenile justice has offered since my adjudication.
My interest persisted and grew as I began to see how my efforts had the ability to improve the lives of people around me. I first noticed this on a personal level as friends would come to me for advice or for me to listen to their struggles and provide comfort. No matter how mundane, horrific, unique, or common the story was, I listened to them in a genuine and non-judgmental manner. I truly enjoyed hearing people’s stories and providing comfort and advice when needed. These moments helped me realize the power of simply being there for someone, and it increased my interest of pursuing a career where I can support those who need it most. I want to become a social worker so I can provide direction to those who may not be able to get it from other sources, just like I have done for various people throughout my life.
Sometimes I assist correctional counselors in their duties and with doing so I have become interested in criminal justice from a perspective other than corrections. Since entering corrections seven months ago I’ve heard various stories from different inmates blaming their life of crime on their childhood. Working in this capacity has also helped me see the good and bad within corrections, which is why I one day would like to become a prison administer which comes up with treatment plans and rules to govern convicted offenders.
