Parole Officer
I am writing on being a parole officer. I am giving information on them. My mom was on probation so I have had my experiences with probation and how positively it could affect one’s life. They focus on keeping people that were in jail under control, when they get out. They need and use the same equipment as a police officer. They have some different equipment then police officers. They make lots of money. There are also different types of parole officers.
A person needs at least a bachelor’s degree to become a parole officer. One could also use some study in psychology. One needs to know the psychology of the human traits, actions, functions, and senses. A person needs to have a face-to-face chat every so often with his or her parolee. He or she could also call them over the phone to make sure they are where they need to be and doing what they are supposed to be doing. The most important is giving his or her parolee a drug test every month they come in for a checkup.
They are a special type of psychologist that can read body language. They have multiple tasks to do on a daily basis. They also need to write a summary on their parolee every month that could help them with court and if they ever have problems in the future. It can also give them an advantage against the judge or anybody in the court with whoever is going against them. There are three different majors that you could study in or one could just study in all of them to highly increase his or her chance to be a parole and/or probation officer. One definitely needs to be able to multitask on several different occasions. He or she should set a goal for one to get better at what he or she does. A person needs to be able to get along with multiple different t...

One needs to be a very flexible person when it comes to multi-tasking. He or she needs to have different work styles. There are lots of advantages and disadvantages of being a parole/probation officer. There is some stuff he or she can do before becoming a full-fledged parole and/or probation officer. I talked to Caleb about the educational requirements for the field and I learned that the corrections field (at least entry level) is relatively easy for one to make entry into. The first step is to simply put your resume and application together and send it in. If you make it past the interview process and get selected, you will begin your initial training. This first phase is a four week stretch that is spent entirely in the class room. After that your probationary year begins and you are put to work in the jail/prison, wherever you were hired. Within that probationary year you have to attend a three week training course in Glynco, GA at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, which consist of more classroom instruction as well as some self-defense instruction. Once you complete that training and make it through your probationary year, you are on your way to moving up in the corrections world.
Parole is a controversial issue because its vase ways to debate the challenges and problems that will exist. It’s like a side effect to medication based on one’s effectiveness belief. In like manner, the public media allows others who aren’t immediately effected to become tertiary, and secondary victims. It is the door to open opinions. An inmate is released from a sentence given parole and then assigned a parole and probation officer. The one thing that will make probation and parole successful is the supervision of the program and rehabilitation or residential treatment center. This will support the goal to maximize the good behavior and minimize the harmful behaviors of individuals. Probation is a good program because it’s a form of rehabilitation that gives inmates elevate space to obey rules and regulations. On the contrary, probation is risky just like any new diet plan that people use to
This government website explains the importance of correctional education and the grants that are available in this system. They have observed that education is a key component in the rehabilitation aspect of the not only the prison system, but also in juvenile
A typical day for a Correctional Officer would be the preparing of inmates for court appearances. They also receive new inmates to the facility brought in by the Sheriffs Department. Each new inmate must be photographed and fingerprinted upon immediate arrival to the Pre Trial Centre. They are then stripped and fully searched inside and out. With that ...
You have to train so that they know you qualify for the job. You have to be in shape and know how to act in different situations. The agents receive classroom and Web-based instruction in subjects including law, investigative practices, forensics, behavioral science, and ethics. To get an experience of what it will be like, they will have you practice and act out common scenarios. The trainees will conduct a mock-investigation where they will interview suspects, find evidence, and provide testimony in court. The new agents will also receive proper training in firearms, defensive techniques, working undercover, tactical driving, and

Reentry to society after serving prison time, is vital; and always very difficult for the individual making that huge change in environment. But with the right treatment options, plan, and probation officer enforcing it, it can be easier. If I was a probation officer for a person who just released from prison, I would first review his/her case to help develop the right reentry plan. I would then look at all the person’s aspects and conditions; such as what type of treatment they would need, goals that should be met in timely manners, employment, and housing. While doing this, keeping in mind that the person will need support from others, and networks to be involved in. I would strongly recommend getting involved in local churches, volunteer options, and making
Unlike a menial position at your local Walmart, a position at your local prison is admirable and moderately difficult to land, hence one has to be prepared and qualified to take on the duties expected of them if they aspire to land a job as a correctional officer. To do so, I will attend the law enforcement program at BOCES, a vocational school connected to the school in which I attend. And post high school, I intend to apply to the State University of New York at Canton. While attending SUNY Canton, I’ll earn an AAS in criminal justice.
(Alarid, 2017, p. 293) Besides managing/supervising probationers and parolees, other concerns are safety on the job and caseloads. We will review three areas of deficiencies being caseloads, time spent managing probationers and safety within the probation officer career field, and the pros and cons with a possible solution for each.
The quest for knowledge and understanding drives individuals to explore the unknown and live out the thoughts that once consumed their minds. Experience and formed opinions are the end results of these journeys; assumptions are either reinforced or shattered, but either way the truth is a little bit closer than before. Dark and gray areas consume the field of criminal justice; only personal experience can serve as a light. Participating in the internship program offered through the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University has become that light. Throughout this semester the knowledge acquired from SHSU criminal justice classes combined with the experiences gained from the Dallas County Adult Probation Department has produced an exceptional understanding of fact and theory pertaining to the field of criminal justice. Courses such as Criminology 262 and the Fundamentals of Criminal Law 264 contributed to the personal triumph gained from involvement in the internship program and allowed individual strengths and weaknesses to ...
Correctional institutions in the country have made rehabilitation a top priority. Most prisons offer substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management, and sex offender treatment programs. All programs are staffed by a wide variety of counselors, certified instructors, and doctors. Correctional employees are required to attained training and some are selected to become certified in some of the counseling fields as well. "Research conducted by Doris MacKenzie and others find that rehabilitation programs that have shown to be effective" (Miceli,
According to experts and inmates, education is a key to successful reentry into society that most inmates are lacking. Over the past twenty years, the need for education within jails and prisons has risen to an all-time high...
...ernment. On the other hand, probation is a judicial function. Also, parolees have already spent time in prison before being released into to the community while probationers usually haven’t (in most states). In some jurisdictions, both are supervised by state employed officers or agents, while in others they are supervised by separate probation or parole agencies (Stohr, Walsh, & Hemmens, 2013, p.270). Parole and probation officer (sometimes these jobs are combined in some jurisdictions) have two common roles: to protect the community and to assist the probationers/parolees to become more productive, law-abiding members of the community. This dual role makes them both law enforcement officers as well as social workers.
Corrections: The primary role is to supervise inmates and maintain inmate custody. This is achieved by working in the prison, jail, and court room setting. It also requires officers to transport offenders under strict and closely monitored procedures.
The difference between probation and parole, is the meaning and process behind the two. Probation, is for people who are monitored by the community and are not in prison. While, parole is something that prisoners get when they are trying to get out of prison and get their life on track. Another difference between, probation and parole is that they have two different ways to be settled. Probation is handled by one person and decide by a judge to find out what type of probation system to go through. Parole is judged by a group of people, who decides if the person has learned their lesson and shown signs of improvement to be released from prison. Final, difference between probation and parole in the number of steps behind the process of both.
