Within the leasing office, there are three employees (outside of maintenance). These three employees are Angie, Kendal, and Amy. Even though I did not get to see the dynamic with all three of them working together, I can tell that they make a great team. Individually, however, they each have their own responsibilities. Aside from duties that only property managers are responsible for, the team splits up various tasks that need to be completed. Angie is responsible for social media, asset management, and new construction (such as phase 2). Kendal is responsible for resident communication, delinquency, and renewals. Amy is still new, but she focuses her spare time on collections and renewals. I spoke with Angie about how the level of busyness at Legacy. This particular Saturday that I was there was very busy. Working here requires the ultimate multi-tasking abilities. Kendal and Angie have mastered these skills. Angie said that because of the quality of the property, they are hardly ever “slow.” Sometimes during the winter, things are not quite as busy. Angie and her team use those times to plan resident events for the summer. Angie said that if some preplanning does not get done in the winter, there would not be time to plan during the busy seasons of spring, summer, and fall. A typical day is split between both inside and outside. Prospective residents come into the office to begin the process, but often end up going outside in order to tour the model or other available apartment homes. Usually there are two, sometimes three, staff members in the office. The team works together, but as individuals. Sometimes the office is full and other times it is empty because everyone has gone out to show off the apartments. Angie, Kendal, and... ... middle of paper ... ...hat I had not considered before was which branch of housing/residential property management I wanted to go into. Angie asked me whether I would want to go into student, affordable, or conventional housing. This was something I had not put much though into. Since my time at Legacy, I have had some time to think about that question. I see value in all three branches and would like to spend some time within each of them to see where my passion truly lies. For now, I am leaning toward conventional housing. It is what I am most familiar with. I think that this course and this experience have been the perfect duo that has allowed me to get a glimpse of what residential property management is really like. Shadowing at Legacy gave me a unique perspective on residential property management; a perspective that I would only like to develop further as I dive into this industry.
If I had to make a suggestion to better manage the situation, I’d probably suggest the organization to practice and use collaborating as a management strategy. I’d propose that Kate and Tom get together with their other willing co-workers and come up with an appropriate solution to the organization’s problems. When they feel comfortable and satisfied with their possible solutions and proposal, they should then pitch it to the hierarchy of the organization: Jeff Donaldson, Rick Clark, etc. This would hopefully produce a mutually and completely satisfactory solution.
I selected to job shadow my mom actually because I couldn’t find anyone to shadow in the career that I wanted, so my only other choice was to do my mom. I wasn’t really too interested in doing that job at first, but that’s what I needed to do. I spent my day watching and helping my mom checking out stock systems and how it works. I was also able to use the office equipment. I wore nice black pants with a nice sweater. We left the building for lunch, and went somewhere else to eat, like my mom does a lot of the time. During the interview, I asked her the questions, and she answered, explaining as she went along, and I was not able to catch it all. So I learned a whole lot about the job by doing the interview. I left at about 2:00 to 3:00 (I am not too sure exactly when) because my mom had some important work she needed to do, that I really couldn’t help with. My favorite experience that day was actually finding out how stocks work, saving money, and information like that.
I am interested in a residence life position not for what it shall bring me, but for what I can possibly do to help others. I have seen the Resident Assistants in my hall, Grier, helping the residents and I would love to be able to make a difference in someone’s life as I see them doing everyday. Specifically, I have seen how Kayla Beadles has been able to help others as well as myself by creating a warm environment that has made it extremely easier to assimilate into college life. I hope that by being a Resident Assistant, I can inspire those in my hall the same way that I have been.
1. Please briefly share the influences on your decision to pursue the field of medicine, including shadowing experiences and other medical related activities.
10) Ask for a list of activities, including community activities, the residents are able to participate in- are they on grounds or off grounds? Will they accommodate the residents? ability?
If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.
After tenants are in the program they will be expected to take another survey to determine if we reached their expectations and how we can improve our methods. Shaw University social work students will then compare and analysis, both sets of data from before and after to determine the effectiveness of the housing program. After students have properly analyzed the data they collected, we will then meet to determine areas of satisfaction and areas in which improvements are ...
My major of choice is in the field of engineering, so I decided to job shadow at DTE Energy. I figured that they deal with just the electrical side of engineering but after my experience I knew more about what they did there to the point were could happily be employed there. I met a man named Ryan Randazzo who is the manager of the facility. He took me under his wing and through his daily routine of how he operates throughout his day. They always start the morning off with a roll-call. This involves DTE districts from all over Michigan and they communicate through a polycom conference phone at a certain time during the day. Each districts chimes in on any safety problems, functionality of equipment, and statistical data. Their call lasts
To state that I am to a great degree intrigued by being part of your association, as the following Masters level understudy, would be an understatement. This Administrative Residency Program opportunity is such an immense blessing. My encased resume demonstrates my ability to provide efficient customer service and communicate clearly and objectively both verbally and in writing. Through my experience I am able to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment, wisdom, common sense, and initiative, all while thoroughly carrying out oral and written instructions with minimum supervision. Furthermore, my ability to prioritize and schedule workload allows me to ensure completion of assignments when faced with deadlines and to accommodate to
I believe that this is the correct program for me and I hope that this program will help me foster and develop my creative talents further and become the person I want to be, an architect that leaves an impact on the world. I realize now the power that architecture has and the role it plays in shaping lives as I have seen it shape mine through studying it, and so now I would like to continue my education, so that I can take the necessary steps forward to fulfilling what I want to do in my architectural
Throughout my past two and a half years at Robert Morris University, several opportunities have presented themselves allowing me to grow both intellectually and personally. The opportunity to complete my undergraduate and graduate work in four years is one of many. Robert Morris faculty has a unique will for students’ success. The professors at this university have influenced my decision to further my education at this
The O’Brate Scholarship has made this positive impact not only through the continual promotion for grade accountability, but also the continual emphasis on financial accountability. Therefore, with great consideration, I have taken the leap next year into renting my own apartment here in Manhattan! Making this next step was in due part
At no time during high school did I think too deeply about where I wanted to go to college. My parents didn’t force me to do anything specifically to be a “competitive” college applicant. Instead, I did whatever interested me the most; this paid off. I pursued and excelled at these activities, rather than spending time doing things that would only look good on a resume. The thing is, there are many colleges with programs that reflect my main interests in peacebuilding/public-policy, business, engineering, and music. After visiting here and speaking with Associate Director Loughhead, I realized that it was not only the convenience of combining these interests into my daily life (specifically through The Williams School) all in the perfect
In the time that has passed since I first entered my Residence Hall Community, I have had a number of experiences, internships, and jobs that have prepared me to take leadership and perform the duties of a Resident Assistant.
Seeing that I never had any strong passions or interests, I was always unsure about the path I wanted to take. I didn’t have a dream school, but getting accepted into the Tuition Exchange Program for Pepperdine was seemingly the most logical decision to make. I didn’t take much interest in the University itself, but through my time at this school is where I was able to work on myself and fully understand what I was capable of.
