In order to implement this project we will need to schedule a meeting with Housing and Urban Development. We will also need to create a plan of action surrounding the proposed activities. We could create action teams in order to assign person’s tasks. We will need to formulate a goal plan with obtainable goals. We will also have to find an area of development and create a projected budget. It would be beneficial to contact agencies for assistance. Create a timeline for tasks to be developed. Lastly, we can conduct seminars on the importance of affordable housing. An accurate cost analysis is the first step in an effort to finance and implement this proposed project. By building a housing complex for single mothers with children who have low-income, this will allow them to have access to affordable housing. To help determine the effectiveness of the program and to ensure that the projected goals are reached Shaw University social work students will collectively conduct tenant satisfaction surveys and also interview tenants prior to receiving assistance form the housing program. After tenants have received assistance data will then be collected using the same methods as before. Tenants will be expected to take a survey on what they expect from the housing program.
After tenants are in the program they will be expected to take another survey to determine if we reached their expectations and how we can improve our methods. Shaw University social work students will then compare and analysis, both sets of data from before and after to determine the effectiveness of the housing program. After students have properly analyzed the data they collected, we will then meet to determine areas of satisfaction and areas in which improvements are ...

Poverty in America is a very complex issue that can be looked at from many directions. There are a plethora of statistics and theories about poverty in America that can be confusing and at times contradicting. It is important to objectively view statistics to gain a better understanding of poverty and to wade through the stereotypes and the haze of cultural views that can misrepresent the situation. The official poverty line in America begins with a person making at or below $12,060. To calculate the poverty line for a family, an additional $4,180 is added to the base of $12,060 for each additional member(“Federal Poverty Level Guidelines”). According to the last U.S. census, over 45 million or 14.5% of Americans are at or below the poverty line(Worstall). At this level, the U.S. poverty level has not changed much from the 1970s when the government began a “War on Poverty.” However,
Now that the causes of homelessness have been identified, a solution can be formed. The best solution would be to create a transformational campus by offering a p...

In understanding Relational Cultural Theory (RCT), we will first examine its fundamental assumptions and then critically assess those assumptions. Next, we will evaluate RCT’s assumptions to determine its relevance to the core values of social work. Finally, we will determine the ways RCT can best guide social work practice.
The family unit is recognized as an importance in the field of social work. If a family is in need of temporary assistance, social workers are in full support of this, because
The people that ACC serves face extreme obstacles to stabilizing their lives. Due to low or nonexistent income, their criminal background and/or rental history, credit problems, and the lack of affordable housing, it is almost impossible for ACC’s participants to get off the streets and to rebuild their lives without effective advocacy and assistance. In 2013, working with Jerry Gates, a long-time housing developer and the president of Craig’s Doors board of directors, ACC began a pilot project, “Amherst Transitional Housing Program,” to provide housing and support service to people who are homeless in Amherst.
...e homeless was undeserving. The public also witnessed police regulation of drug use among the homeless, building stereotypical views that the homeless were criminals. Making the public weary of helping the homeless, government involvement soon became a necessary action. Programs and grants were soon implemented to assist in housing and substance abuse assistance for the homeless population. Housing was proposed to be built for the homeless population, but the projects weren’t completed. Among the government projects that included housing, there were other projects that introduced aid to the homeless, including food and water. The homeless population is seen as a major problem, but it is not without a solution. There are many plans in effect that would help stop or slow down the current homeless population, but with the general goal set, a solution can be found.
Homelessness is a social issue that has been overlooked for too long. It can be observed in many states worldwide. The rising population of homeless people affects those characterized as homeless, their families subjected to the lifestyle, and the communities where homelessness exists. There are many solutions but only a few will be discussed. Improving existing shelters and building new shelters are general solutions. More in depth solutions within the shelters include programs that assist the homeless with opportunities for re-entry into the community. I would first like to discuss reasons why this issue should be looked into and conclude with recommendations.

This class, Social Work Theory & Practice was made to be able to introduce me to social work theories, ideas, and skills needed to work in the social work profession. This class main tool used was a book called A Brief Introduction of Social Work Theory by David Howe which discusses social work theories in a compressive and explainable way. This class is important to my higher learning because it break down the theories that I will need to use during my practice and a...
Housing is a necessity of life as living conditions can affect an individual’s health in the long run, but after 10 years of economic expansion Canada has yet to resolve this issue: one out of five households in Canada are unable to afford acceptable shelter (Shapcott, 2009). The Ottawa Charter of Health Promotion recognizes shelter as a basic prerequisite (Bryant, 2009). Many people are suffering, as the income gap between owners and tenants has grown wider throughout the years (Shapcott, 2009). There have been studies conducted by Canada and the Housing Mortgage Corporation have shown that the cost of rent is increasing much faster than income, as the existing amount of housing continues to deteriorate and overcrowding in households is increasing; this is also known as hidden homelessness (Bryant, 2009). Homelessness is a temporary experience, not an identity or a permanent trait. It includes a continuum of housing circumstances (Paradis,

The social problem I intend to address is how the technology firms drive up the housing prices in the Bay Area. For this executive summary, I will be acting as a research assistant in Human Resource department in Snapchat. My summary will be addressed to Evan Spiegel, the Chief Executive Officer of Snap Incorporation. Spiegel’s company has been searching for an office space in San Francisco, and I believe taking the homeless crisis into consideration when they relocate their office is crucial to their business development and employee retention. Spiegel therefore needs a thorough analysis about how their transfer will affect the critical situation of housing in the Bay Area and the homeless condition in San Francisco. Spiegel should also understand
