There are two ways to use interpersonal communication, which is indirect and direct method. To have successful interpersonal communication skills is when the senders and receivers of the messages have a good understanding of the messages. There are four principles of interpersonal communication, which are: Inescapable, Irreversible,
Psychological context, relational context, situational context, environmental context and cultural context. With psychological context, you ask who you are and what you bring to this interaction. Like needs, desire, and values. Relational context is your concerns by others reactions. Situational context deals with the “were” you communicate at. In other words, your interaction in a classroom would be different from your interaction in another social sitting. Environmental context also deal with the “where”, you communicate like, time of day, noise level and location, cultural context deals with all the learning behaviors and rules that can affect the interaction. In other words, if a person is from a different culture that makes long and direct eye contact, would you out of politeness avoid eye contact?

There are all different types of communication that people will use through out their life. The most important type of communication is interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication differs from other forms of communication in that there are few participants involved, the participants are in close proximity to each other, there are many sensory channels used, and feedback is immediate. Interpersonal communication is the information received from listening to what someone else is saying. Interpersonal communication always uses intonation, diction and enunciation to give meaning to information. Intonation, diction and enunciation sometimes give more meaning to what is being said than the actual words themselves. In the following paragraphs, I will explain to the reader the importance of interpersonal communication in business.

Not just to improve business practices, but to improve the quality of both employer AND employee satisfaction. Effective interpersonal communication is the most important aspect in determining the success of workplace practices. Effective interpersonal communication includes practices such as honesty, clarity, and mutual respect.

Body language and facial expression may affect the accurateness of the message transmission directly. Interpersonal communication skills normally ensure that the message is sent and received correctly without any alteration thus improving the communication efficiency. Learning diverse aspects of interpersonal communication has greatly aided me in better understanding of what it consists. I am capable of applying the knowledge gained from this course to my personal experiences. This paper reflects on my personal experience in learning interpersonal communication.
Clearly, communication plays a significant role in every aspect of our life. Communication can be done through oral, verbal and written communication. Information is transmitted as words, tone of voice, and gestures and postures.
