When comes to my spiritual values my philosophy is to putt god in the first place on everything I touch .I do believe that if you collaborate with god on everything he will take you in places you never been before. Which one is most important; our personal values or someone else's values? I think that my personal values are very important for me, and I should not be influenced by other unless I have the same feelings or beliefs. There is a huge difference between both stories; however, they have some common conflicts.
Everyone has their own personal values that the gain throughout their lives. Some of these values are passed down through the different generations of their family. Values can change over time and some people learn more values as they grow up. I personally have gained a range of different values in the past eighteen years of my life. My own values include: respect, honesty, empathy and trust. I gained the value of respect through my parents as I was always told to show respect to others and they would then show me respect back. When I was really young I had to respect other people’s things and their feelings. Through my parents I was brought up to believe that it is always better to be honest and tell the truth about everything. I feel that
The exact role of spirituality in clinical practice is difficult to delineate. The understanding of spirituality as it pertains to occupational performance and occupational therapy is illustrated below (Egan & DeLaat, 1994, p. 100). The analysis of the
Developing a sense of wholeness and having an established relationship with their creator, can assist the individual with maintaining stability during times of illness, stress, or when a cure is not possible. This can facilitate a source of healing within, which will promote the health of members in the faith based community. “To promote healing, the nurse builds on strengths to encourage the connecting and integrating of the inner spiritual” (Stanhope, Marcia, & Lancaster, 2012, p. 972). Connecting with the inner spiritual is an important aspect because it can assist the individual with making healthier lifestyle choices. By making healthier lifestyle choices, the individual will achieve their optimal health or wellness and this will be beneficial for the individual and faith based
Introduction Faith Community Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as well as on the promotion of holistic health and prevention or minimization of illness within the context of a faith community” (ANA, 2012, as cited in Breisch, Hurley, & Moore, 2013 p. 12). When you think about faith community nursing, the term “wholistic” probably comes to mind. This is not to say that other nursing disciplines do not incorporate holistic care into practice, however, spiritualism can easily be neglected due to sensitivity, barriers, or clear differences between the nurse and patient beliefs. There are four key components of faith community nursing which include spirituality, professionalism, holistic health, and community. With faith community nursing there are no barriers when it comes to spiritualism, because the congregator and nurse often share common beliefs, therefore nursing skills along with spiritual support can be incorporated into care.
I have a long list of values that I find very important to me, but there is a few that stand out the most. Those values are family, friendship, hard work, responsibility, respectfulness, independence, equality, and honesty. My personal values are extremely important
While I was at my last job for a Jesuit University, I was introduced to Saint Ignatius of Loyola and his Ignatian Values, who was the author of these values in the Middle Ages, and they truly capture the tenets of the nursing profession. These values are Cura Personalis, Discernment, Finding God in All Things, Jesuit Pedagogy, Magis, Service of Faith and Promotion of Social Justice, and finally Women and Men for Others/Whole Persons of Solidarity for the Real World.
The major areas of my values and ethics can be summarized in six words: excellence, personal integrity, responsibility, ambition, accountability, and determination. Excellence guides me when setting targets in all my undertakings; I normally strive to achieve my best. Personal integrity and accountability enable me to make sound judgments to avoid engaging in actions that will hurt me and/or other people around me. Responsibility is important to me as it enables me to identify the part I need to play in my family, at the workplace, and in the community. Lastly, ambition and determination are applicable in providing me with the momentum needed to ensure that all my initiatives and tasks are done to completion.
Professional values that are incorporated into my nursing practice include veracity, kindness, support and understanding. It is important to be honest with patients and help them set realistic goals during their recovery process. It is also important to be kind to those that are ill, as they may not have the best attitude at tim...
...locking out the idea. Spirituality also assists in fostering a healthy patient. Many individuals believe in a higher power and therefore we as nurses should encourage that connection when we see it being made. Spiritual connections are a way to give the patient an outlet. They are able to express themselves and rely on something other than physical care and diagnoses. They are about to look to this higher being for encouragement, peace, and healing.
During everyone 's lifetime, there is always something we hold closest to our hearts; it maybe our principles we live by, values, and even our own beliefs. Values are those things that are very important to us but never really realize how much we actually value them in our life. Have you ever been asked to define three of your main values and rip them up? I have and I never noticed how much they meant to me. Each and every one of us believes in our own personal values. These values are what gives us strength and strive us to do what makes us happy. These values are very important to us and are standards that we live by whether we realize it or not. Everyone has something we value including me. Some of the values I might think highly of,
Core Values are an important part of my life and I hope to strengthen them in my everyday life. Family, truth, honesty, friendship, and creativity are all a part of how I want to live my life. Personal Core values, as stated by Wright, are “absolutely critical and fundamental to living a life of meaning and purpose, which invariably creates joy, inner peace, contentment and fulfillment” (5). They define who I am and I want a positive outlook on life.
There are many values that I hold near and dear to my heart that alter every decision I make and have lead me on my path through life. I feel as the woman I am today there are many positive values that I follow that have made me the person I am today. Some of my core values that I like to live by are trust, balance, acceptance, faith, and independence. I relate and apply each of these core values at my practicum site everyday, and will continue to apply them through my work as a family life educator. Trust is an important value to me because I feel that it is such an important component for a strong and healthy relationship.
My Christian moral philosophy is the unifying worldview that shapes both my character and behavior in public and private. This unifying theme allows me to live within the full meaning of integrity. As St. Augustine said, “Pride goes before destruction, and before honor is humility” so I strive continually to work this out on a daily basis in humility.
Values make up a large part of our life and influence the decisions we make. I will continue to live my life with honesty and I aim to become a person of integrity, my ambition and work ethic will help me develop into a better being. I don’t doubt that my values will carry me on to a successful and fulfilling life. Without my family and friends I would have not been able to reach the point where I am today, and I would not be able to personally grow and develop my own way of living and personal beliefs. These influences will help guide me to the path of becoming a decent man. Fortunately, I have my spirituality in hopes to continue growing and develop a better understanding of everything around me.
