What is means by law? Law is the system of principle and regulations established in a community by some authority and applicable to its people, whether in the form of legislation or of custom and policies recognized and enforced by judicial decision.
While military law means the law which governs the member of Armed Forces and regulates the conduct of officers and soldiers as such in peace or war, at home or abroad. The primary object of military law is to keep the maintenance of discipline and good order among troop.

Discuss the importance of justice and fairness (or lack of it) and its effect on the accused and other members of the military community.
‘Without discipline, the Army would just be a bunch of guys wearing the same colour clothing’ . This quote is said by Frank Burns which is related to the primary object of military law that keep the maintenance of discipline and good order among troop. The Disciplinary Regulations of the United States Army define military discipline as “a strict and honourable compliance by all servicemen with the order and rules prescribed by laws, military regulations and orders of commanders (superior)” .
In managing maintenance of discipline and good order among troop by practice of training people to obey rules and using punishment to correct the disobedience, definitely the leader must have the attitude that emphasizes justice and fairness. What is means by justice and fairness and why it is important? There are many philosophers and sociologists define justice as the use of authority and power to uphold what is right, just and lawful . While the concept of fairness is define as the quality of making judgement that free from discrimination. Under Armed Forces Act 1972, Section 50 , the accused will be on conviction by Court-Martial and be liable to imprisonment or any less punishment provided by this Act.
Besides, when an officer not being fair in treated their subordinates, it will effect on the performance because they may not perform well in completing the task given. It can be shown when they absence without leave. In Armed Forces Act 1972, Section 55 , the accused who is absents himself without leave will be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or any less punishment provided by this Act.
Next, the lack of justice and fairness gives an effect on their performances also make them failure to attend parades or perfume duties. Based on Section 58 , every person subject to service law under this Act who reasonable excuse, fails to attend any parade or other duty of any description or leaves any such parade or duty as aforesaid before he is permitted to do so, shall on conviction by Court-Martial be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or any less punishment provided by this Act.
