Thus, unfamiliar native/ non- native accents may counter significant problems in listening comprehension and lead learners to fail to comprehend the listening tasks. b- Unfamiliar vocabulary:
Yousif (2006) indicated that unfamiliar vocabulary is one of the big obstacle hindering learners’ listening comprehension. Therefore, the words chosen for the listening texts should be based on learners'' level of proficiency. Azmi, Celik, Yidliz, & Tugrul (2014) stated that cultural knowledge of the language plays a significant role in understanding the listening content. If the listening materials are completely different and unfamiliar in terms of cultural aspects, learners may face difficulties in comprehension the intended message of the listening task. Consequently, teachers should give their learners background knowledge about the topic of the listening content to get them familiar with the cultural knowledge included in the listening materials.

Another barrier that impedes listening comprehension is the environment surrounding learners. According to Amber Bloomfield et al (2011), noise or distortion in class and outside may have a negative effect on learners' comprehension since it may interrupt them from listening and concentrating on the tasks. Consequently, providing the needed conditions of the listening materials is very important to ensure a good result in listening tasks.
