By Jessica Andrew

The frequency of the conversations that take place might have dropped dramatically as time has gone by in your marriage. And, by improving communication in marriage it will help to keep the relationship between the both of you alive.
The importance of good communication spawns in just about all avenues of life from team sports, within marriages, and even in business.
Together each of you should be able to have equal say when discussing things and also be able to reach a compromise if necessary. Making headway will be made easier if you can each talk to one another regarding concerns or issues in a calm manner.
It's important that one's feelings must be taken into consideration for improving communication in marriage. If you are not quite aware of what is on your spouse's mind, why not just ask them. A good way to start off is by asking them how their day went. As simple as it seems, it can be easily neglected as time goes on. And, also this makes it clear just how much you care.

Sometimes it does pay to see if there is something that is really occupying their minds which you could both talk about. Offer your support and express your willingness to talk about whatever the concern might be.
One important principle to remember is that talking mustn't be the main focus when trying to work towards improving communication in marriage. That way it will be easier to setup some good questions for them once they're done speaking.
And, to prove your attentiveness, restate back to them what they've just said as you understand it. Discussing about a mutual interest together is one good method in improving communication in
Communications generally occur in body languages: how the individuals interpret each other. Her essay is an event that is reoccurring more and more lately. The event results in a failure in marriage. In today’s society more and more people are splitting up or having divorces due to miscommunications. The essay, “Sex, Lies and Conversation,” that Deborah Tannen wrote is much use of today because it explains where miscommunications happen and she has her own studies and research to back it up. The essay goes into depth about her ideologies that cause miscommunications. Look at a miscommunication twice and do not be quick to judge because it will save plenty of
If man and the woman both had the same communication ways they would be more successful in marriage. Many of the communication issues are brought up in the article “Sex, Lies, and Conversation by Deborah Tannen.” Tannen states that men and women argue with one another over communication which leads to marital problems and divorce. Men and women have different viewpoints on communication. Women see bad communication as the one of the major reasons for divorce. Also the way men and women communicate are very different. Men are very different than women they do not like to communicate as much like women. Men don’t talk about their problems and women love to talk about them. Communication is seen as one major cause leading to a relationship failure. When couples get married the women is always looking for a good comuincator.
..., but was apparent in both. All couples will have disagreements and voicing them will prove to be important. Disagreeing is a kind of communication and is important, so long as the differences are not to many or allowed to escalate.
Communication is a significant component in a healthy and successful relationship. The three main successful parts to communication is verbal communication, physical communication, and mental communication. Verbal communication is the ability to carry out a successful conversation without any interruptions. For instance, when a couple argues, it should be over a justifiable reason and not over something minute. If the couple argues over little things that should have been resolved before the conversation even occurred, then their relationship will soon collapse or lead to greater difficulties in the future. Physical communication is the physical contact needed to nourish the partners needs. For example, if the wife comes home from work and is feeling stressed out or had a bad day, the husband should be there to comfort her. Giving comfort to your partner will let them know that you are concerned about their situation. Mental communication is the ability to connect with your partner on a mental basis and be able to notice what irritates them. For example, if the husband is doing something the wife does not lik...
In the book, Reconcilable Differences, the authors explained, “While we typically think of communication as meaning how we talk or how our partners talk, there is another important part of communication to consider: how we and our partners listen” (Christensen et al. 249). When we completely listen to what our partner is saying, we can totally connect to our own needs and emotions. Listening gives us an opportunity to truly understand what the issue is about and makes it easier for others to actually hear us. Based on my interview I conducted, about 100% women stated that their partners could hear them but never actually listen to what they were trying to say, nor understand how they feel about the issue. Also, improving our non-verbal communication, like eye-contact, facial expression, gesture or posture, can help resolve conflicts between couples. The author of Diagnosis: Married emphasizes, “Communication, either verbal or non-verbal, is the most important element in any relationship” (Dawson 1). These non-verbal signals may help us figure out the root of the problem. A good example is whenever I feel upset about laundry, my husband would notice the way I roll my eyes and shake my head while I’m sorting the clothes. At that point, he knows that I am tired and need his
Throughout the last half of the century, our society has watched the divorce rate of married couples skyrocket to numbers previously not seen. Although their has been a slight decline in divorce rates, “half of first marriages still were expected to dissolve before death.” (Stacy, 15, 1991) Whatever happened to that meaningful exchange of words, “until death do us part,” uttered by the bride and groom to each other on their wedding day? What could have been the cause of such inflated divorce rates? Perhaps young married couples are not mature enough to be engaged in such a trremendous responsibility, or, maybe, the couples really do not know each other as well as they thought. Possibly, they have been blinded by infatuation rather than by true love, or, quite simply, the couples mistakenly have different relational expectations.
Communication is key in all interactions between people. It is necessary in all factors of life, as without it, there would be no understanding the needs of others. Honest and open communication is essential in an intimate relationship, as it builds trust and growth and deepens the bond between a couple. There are moments when silence is the best method to get a message across and there are moments when speaking openly is, but the best method cannot be determined without the couple honestly communicating with each other and figuring out what works the best for them. Not be forthcoming about what one expects or needs from the relationship marks its downfall as it cannot be expected that the other partner knows what is wanted without it being
