I Love Reading Analysis

Reading is one of the things that I used to hate the most in life. I did hate when teachers would assign us long and boring books to read, especially over the summer time. I hated advisory period, when we would have to read for thirty minutes quietly. I always despised it. There’s a thing that I have come to realize, and it is that I have come to actually like reading and fiercely love reading. My reading adventure started when I was in elementary school. I was in fifth grade and we were reading “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen. I had never paid more attention to another book in my life. Another time happened in my eighth grade year, when we read “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare in English one. I did not really understand the Shakespearean language but that is what made me want to learn more so I had started researching and I gained a lot of knowledge from it. We read it, along with “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee in my ninth grade and I absolutely fell in love with the stories and their characters. My favorite quote from “To Kill a Mockingbird” is, “Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.” This line grabbed my attention and I felt like it related to me and my experiences with reading. I never cared about reading and quite sadly, I never wanted to. The books that I started to read after this were ones with morals. They taught me that reading may not be as bad as I thought it
