Changing a Flat Tire There always seems to be a time, in life, when the worst things possible happen at the most unexpected time. Especially if you are by yourself in the middle of nowhere, or have never had to do it before. For example, there will be a time when you have no extra money to spend on anything, and an individual gets a flat tire or has a blowout. The steps to changing a flat tire can seem intimidating, especially if it is the first time doing it. It is rather simple if you have the right tools to do it. First, you need the tools: a wrench, a jack, and the spare tire and maybe a flashlight. Then, set all the tools up and finally, change the flat or blown out tire. When it comes to changing a flat tire, the first step is to turn on the flashers in the vehicle that is being driven, so oncoming traffic knows to slow down. The next step is to get the tools that will be used. The tools needed: a jack, a wrench that looks like an “X” and the spare tire. To begin, take the wrench and begin loosening the bolts, just enough to get them off when the vehicle is jacked up, on the flat tire. First, lift the spare and line the holes, on the tire, with the bolts on the vehicle. Then, slide the spare back onto the vehicle. Once, the spare is on locate the nuts and begin putting them on. Before tightening them with the “X” shaped wrench, twist them on with your fingers, just to secure the tire to let the jack down. After, that you may begin letting the jack down. Let the jack down slowly, and be careful of getting hurt while doing this, because some vehicles jack up, up under the vehicle behind the tire. Once, the jack is down, take the wrench and begin to tighten the nuts and make sure they are all secure enough to drive on.
