Super Bowl game. A television camera scans the individual faces --- some exuberant, some anxious --- all sports fans out for a good time.
As many people as are in that crowd will die in highway accidents this year. More than half of those accidents will involve alcohol, alone or in combination with other drugs. A disproportionate number of the dead will be young, between the ages of 15 and 24. One group, 16 year olds, will be in 40% of all the singl-car, alcohol related crashes" (Knox 19).

Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most traffic accidents in adults’ eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better understanding of all the laws on the road.

The brake system is something that the driver should always check to be working properly. Once the driver feels that the brakes are not working optimally, he or she should bring it to a maintenance shop to replace the brake pads, rotor, disc, or drum. The tire also is a factor to how quickly a car will stop. Keeping key components in your car in check at all times will help make anyone a better driver. Having a well working brake system will make the roads safer for everyone in the HTS.
Humans have visual cues that they naturally use to perceive their motion through the environment. There are numerous human factors that are associated with being able to navigate a vehicle safely while adhering to signal lights, signs and other traffic road markings. There needs to be vast improvement in the way that information is presented to drivers for many reasons. One example is that the placing of the sun during a particular part of the day prohibits one from distinguishing whether a traffic light is green or red. The elderly have difficulties reading certain signs or differentiating among the color of signal lights, even with their glasses on. Most everyone has less visual acuity at night and certain road markings or traffic lights are harder to perceive. Color blind people canÕt always tell the difference between a red light and a green light, and they may also have a hard time seeing brake lights, blinkers, etc. All of the situations mentioned above can lead to serious fatal accidents. Extensive research in this area has been conducted for many years and is still going on today.
Not every country has the same laws. As an example, the age limit for Pennsylvanians to drive is sixteen. However, in Europe, the legal driving age is eighteen, for the government feels that the teenagers are not mature enough to handle a car. Even though in other parts in America, the lowest age is fourteen, America is considering raising the driving age in their country for the same reason. I disagree with this notion, for if a parent did not want a teenager to drive a car, they would give the command and their child would wait until they are 18. This is not the only reason why I am strong in my thesis. Good drivers should not be punished for the actions of others, accidents caused are not always caused by a teenager, and the United States hold tests to see whether or not a teenager is suitable for driving. Driving qualifications includes both your age and your maturity.

Road safety is one of the most important aspects of daily living. Our vehicle is our main transportation from one place to another. The number of car and motorcycle accidents seem to be increasing because of the many distractions, the lack of safety measures and judgment to road conditions and weather. Not being cautious increases the chances of not only injuring ourselves but hurting others as well. On the road, you see people talking on their cell phones or texting, eating, putting makeup on, changing the radio station, reading or using your GPS while driving. These are all distractions that endanger drivers, passengers and bystanders safety. Safe driving involves off-road precautionary measures such as making sure tires are properly inflated, testing windshield wipers, getting regular oil changes and tune-ups and adjusting the mirrors. All of these actions can help prevent an accident. Unfortunately, not all of us decide to wear our seat belts when driving or turn signal ligh...
