After some research on other university honor codes, the processes of honor codes are really similar to the University of Colorado at Boulder. In fact, Colorado State University (CSU) have a similar honor code pledge as us, which is “I have not given, receive, or used any unauthorized assistance. ” Comparing the discipline process between here and CSU and Stanford University, they are looks identical but written differently. However, the discipline from Stanford are harsher than here an CSU. While I was doing this assignment, I did it two days before it was due. Therefore, I have to rush to get it done. Since English language is not my first language, rushing to finish the assignment did not help me with the grade and it increasing my chances of make a lot of mistakes. If I start this assignment week ahead of the due date, I would have more time to complete it and I would time to go back to check for my mistakes. When I rushing to do something, I try to find the easiest way to complete the task and not double check my work. While I was doing the assignment I did not have a complete understanding of assignment and the sources for the assignment. If I ask for help, I would have a better understanding of the assignment and how to approach it. If I done all this, I would not be in this position and people would have doubt about my integrity. Academic integrity always applies to my future. I have learned from this mistake, but this mistake will stay with me forever. I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to join National Junior Honor Society(NJHS). I would love to be a member. I think it is important for kids to be involved in the community. Also, myself personally it would be an honor to be a face for our school.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
However, this may stem from a lack of enforcement of the rules. Even at the most prestigious schools, such as Harvard University, students are not upholding the rules implemented: “The possibility that 125 Harvard students ‘improperly collaborated’ on an exam in the spring has galvanized … discussion about … honor codes” (Source: C). In this case, people may argue that the only party at fault consists of the students. However, the faculty may be partially guilty as well, as their lack of care towards the rules has created a situation that jeopardizes the school’s integrity. Revision may then seem like the least of the school’s priorities, as they must show they seriously consider educational integrity. Likewise, at the University of Virginia, “157 students have been investigated by their peers in the largest cheating scandal in memory” (Source: D). Again, the school and all those who work there hold at least part of the fault for this ignorance because, theoretically, they should preserve and enforce the rules provided. The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.

This presentation has informed my knowledge about Ofsted greatly. As a student, I have only ever witnessed my previous teachers and schools being inspected and have never experienced the ‘behind the scenes’ of an Ofsted inspection. By completing this task, I feel that I am now able to understand the process that Ofsted follow in a clearer form and feel that this would be very beneficial towards my professional development. This is because as I aspire to be a primary school teacher, I am now aware of what Ofsted look out for in an inspection and feel that I would be able to implement the knowledge gained into my practice and work ethics.

Becoming an intrical part of the National Junior Honor Society would be a great privilege. NJHS established in 1929. From its conception, it has validated five guiding principles, which are; enthusiasm for scholarship, desire to render service, leadership, responsible citizenship, and development of character. Thus, I would not only like to join for the academic recognition, but to further develop and challenge myself within these areas. For many years, NJHS has paved a road to success for many alumni. Don't see it in the hallways or in teachers classrooms. Now there are there are a few teachers who have it hanging up somewhere, but they never draw any attention to it. In a study done in 2008 at a small public university show that 42% of students and alumni did not know the range of sanctions that can occur. Which means almost half the colleges students did not know what all they would be punished for. Now few teachers do put the honor code in their syllabus but they don't go over it. At my school, we have what we call JanTerm, a 3-week period where students take one hands-on, intensive course. Last year I took a class called Periodismo, where we went on a week-long trip to Puerto Rico and experienced the many traditional and cultural aspects of this great group of people. Our final project was to create a magazine highlighting several Puerto Rican traits, including gastronomy, festivals, and geography. At my school, we abide by the Westminster Honor Code. I feel like this course not only exalted the type of students Westminster wants us to be, but the type of humans we should be, ones who are respectful and caring of others as well as open-minded and willing to try new things. Because of the Westminster Honor Code, each and every one of us knew how to get the most out of this learning experience with locals.
In closing, the Rutgers Academic Integrity Policy follows a strict set of guidelines and protocol in order to make learning at the University an honest and safe experience. All students should deserve to have a fair education, without being preoccupied with students cheating, as well as being preoccupied with cheating themselves. Cheating and other forms of academic dishonesty will not help students when they graduate and are out in their fields, nor will it make them the type of graduates Rutgers expects. By understanding the policy at Rutgers, students can learn to work to the best of their ability both in school and later in the workplace.
