Homework Is Distracting

Educators debate whether performing multiple tasks is distracting when students are doing homework. It is too distracting for high school students to divide their attention amongst several activities when they are working on homework. Teenagers, who multitask while doing homework, are limiting their concentration capabilities, are unable to fully comprehend what they are studying, and the efficiency of their work decreases. Personally, I have tried multitasking while doing homework and I can not focus at all. I start to procrastinate and tend to lose focus on doing my homework. When I come home from school I like to make time for doing my homework, eating a snack, and hang out with friends. Majority of the time I do two out of the three. I usually start doing homework when I’m done talking to friends, which is late at night. I tried implementing homework time with phone/hangout with friends. The results were poor. It did not end up as I planned too. In school, I became less attentive when teachers were teaching or explaining something. When my teacher called on me to answer a question, I did not answer them accurately. I was confused on the material they were teaching. Involving yourself with activities after school is fun because you get to engage with other students your age. On the other hand, interacting and engaging too much can lead to less focus on your priorities. Teenagers rather hangout with friends then do homework. Studies show that multitasking impedes your goals you set and it lowers the status of quality expected of homework. Multitasking for students is very distracting.
