Have you ever had problems with completing homework assignments, having technology for a project, or planning out projects to avoid waiting until the last minute? Homework clubs are an excellent way to solve those problems rapidly. Homework clubs have been created at schools to complete assignments, meet with teachers for extra help, and have less work to do at home. This way, students will not be up late at night doing their homework and be exhausted the next day at school. Homework clubs are a fantastic idea because they give students access to teachers and other resources, provide a set time where students only do work, and decrease the likelihood of procrastination, giving them more free time. First, homework clubs can give students opportunities for more practice with a teacher on certain content or to use other resources they may not have at home. Students can have valuable one-on-one time between them and the teacher at homework club. This is great for students who need to catch up on work they missed or go over concepts that they did not understand. They also might stay after to prepare for an upcoming test or to retake a test they underperformed in. They are able to focus on their work more and not be distracted by friends or people talking. This can also help them understand the content better that is on the homework. As a result of students focusing more in homework club, they can be more productive and will get more accomplished. This reduces their stress levels to do homework later at home, if you still have any. For me, doing homework club has forced me to put more effort into my homework and turn in more assignments on time than I used
to. Finally, participating in homework clubs decreases the likelihood of students procrastinating on assignments, and can give them more free time later in the day for themselves. Doing work at homework club will give you more time to finish at home and work on long term projects. This way, students can submit the projects early and can get them out of the way. Also, kids can have more free time to relax, play video games, or participate in other activities as a result of completing assignments at homework club. Homework club has given me more time to play tennis and do conditioning workouts so I can make the high school team next year. Meeting with teachers and using valuable resources, being given a set time to focus on homework, and saving time by not procrastinating are all advantages of participating in homework clubs at schools. Homework clubs can increase kids’ grades, which will eventually help them be accepted into better colleges. They can also help the student build skills that are necessary for adult jobs, such as avoiding procrastination for an upcoming presentation. Lastly, the free time gained from doing homework club could lead to someone playing or participating in activities that they enjoy more frequently, which would cause them to improve their skills or talents. The countless benefits of homework club are undeniable, and all kids need to start making use of this amazing opportunity.

On a typical school day, you might hear the words "Ugh, I have so much homework" come out of a middle schooler's mouth. In reality, the problem might not be the amount of homework, but the amount of time a student has after school. School administrators need to understand the importance of having a study hall for middle school students. Middle schoolers should be able to have a study hall because it gives them time to get assignments done, understand their homework better, and not have so much on their plate.

This means that high school students will be up until about 11:00 finishing their homework, that’s without factoring in how much time the students will waste.

However, in grades 7-9, the percentile gain doubled to twelve from a percentile gain of 6 in grades 4-6. Homework had the greatest effect on high school students grades tenth through twelfth with a percentile gain of 24. The study suggest that as homework’s difficulty and amount increased,, students percentile gains increased(5). The longer it takes to complete homework, the more the benefits increase. During this time students are given the chance to work through their homework problems and ask questions when they find a difficult problem, but much of the time students cannot advance far enough in their assignment to find a problem that they would need help with. When students are not offered any work time they must bring their homework home with them. There they must struggle through problems by themselves, because they have no one familiar enough with the material to ask for help from. Many students can get the wrong answer to a problem because they are guessing, this reflects badly on to them once the assignment is turned in and graded. Having a longer class would allow students to ask questions and allow them to obtain a better understanding of their homework before leaving the classroom. This understanding is vital in order to keep students progressing through their courses. Having work time in class would also reduce the need to reteach a large majority of the homework assignment.
