Every school should put the four day school week plan into action. Implementing this routine would allow teachers more time to teach, give students the option to do their homework in class, and offer the students for family time, in turn creating student success. All of these factors would help to better student and faculty life and promote success in the classroom. Having a school system run on a four day week rotation would increase their success by offering more opportunities for lessons and work time. Lessons in many classes are rushed and left unfinished due to the tight time restraints placed upon teachers. They are given an inadequate amount of time to teach the excessive amount of material given to them to cover. More often than not …show more content…
During this time students are given the chance to work through their homework problems and ask questions when they find a difficult problem, but much of the time students cannot advance far enough in their assignment to find a problem that they would need help with. When students are not offered any work time they must bring their homework home with them. There they must struggle through problems by themselves, because they have no one familiar enough with the material to ask for help from. Many students can get the wrong answer to a problem because they are guessing, this reflects badly on to them once the assignment is turned in and graded. Having a longer class would allow students to ask questions and allow them to obtain a better understanding of their homework before leaving the classroom. This understanding is vital in order to keep students progressing through their courses. Having work time in class would also reduce the need to reteach a large majority of the homework assignment. The students would have their questions answered before they leave the classroom. Students are the group most affected by the length of the school week. The amount of work placed on them creates great stress. Family is a big stress reducer in many students
When it comes to our children education, we always should pay extra attention to the decisions that we make, especially if the decisions that we’re going to make are weighty and could have an impact on our children educational performance. In Jaclyn Melicharek’s article “Four-Day School Weeks: The Rule to Skip School,” she makes several climes against the four-day school policy, which is a convenient policy that seem to pervade our schools nowadays. She believes four-day school policy is ineffective and rather harmful to our children, teachers and staff because it reduces our children educational performance, deter the academic value that our children are obtaining and shatter the lives of the teachers and the staff. I agree with Melicharek
Class periods lasting 120 minutes instead of the usual 50 minutes give teachers more time to go in depth into their lesson plans. In my experience, both my biology teacher and my foods teacher have expressed their want for longer class hours. They have struggl...
The reading and the lecture are both about a policy that allows companies to hire employees for a four-day week work. The author of the reading believes that four-day work week might be beneficial for employees, companies and the community as a whole and provides some reasons. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He argues that four-day work week has not valuable outcome for the economy and it cause increasing costs and has no economical benefit.
We have more family time, time to fish and hunt, and also more time to work. But what I do not understand is why do not tell us what is going on with the school. Maybe, some parents would even volunteer to help the school out. Has the school even thought about that? Probably not. I am here to try and persuade you to be on my side of the school. I believe this would be the best for the school. Also, The Board of Education does not know what day they are going to do. It is ether going to be Mondays or Fridays. I personally think, if they go to a four day school week, Mondays. A lot of the parents are saying yes, and then a lot of parents are saying no. Plus, our grade for the school is D-. That right there is telling you NOT to do it. This will cause more frustration for students and they will not want to do the homework. They will want to relax more than
There is a lot of talk about a 4 day school week and a 5 day school week in our school district. People also have very good arguments for or against the system that they like or don’t like. In my opinion the 5 day school week would aid of time in school a lot more.
The traditional School schedule is set up so students go to school for 9 months and then have a 3-month summer Vacation. This system dates back to a time when most people's lively hood was farming; therefore, the educational schedule was built around the times of harvest and planting. But in modern day, with so little farmers this schedule is severely out dated. The long break in the summer encourages students to forget knowledge that they learned that previous year, forcing teachers to review information for 4-6 weeks, time that could be well used teaching students new and enriching things. This schedule also isn't very cost effective, for three months schools stand empty and unused, which is ridicules due to how over crowded the educational system is. Does it really make sense to use an outdated schedule when with every other aspect of our lives we want the newest and the best?
Having only four classes a day, students have less homework and less material to study each night. With the extra time, students can go to sleep earlier so they are more prepared for the upcoming day. Not only is block schedule less stress on the students, but for the teachers as well. Since teachers have fewer classes to teach, they have half the grading than those of traditional scheduling. Teachers are also provided with longer planning periods, so they can use the extra time to come up with new and improved ways of conveying their material to their classes.
Many students do not enjoy their homework even if it is only studying. These students would not be able to have any free time because there's homework. There should not be homework because classwork is already enough work, it takes time away from other activities, and it does not let kids have independent thinking, so they won’t be able to be hard workers.
Ever wanted to have an extra day to sleep in,rejuvenate, and spend time with your loving family. Or another choice would be to have more class time to finish those longs quizzes and classwork you can't take home. While on top of everything else it would be possible to increase the speed of your education learning, well now you can because of the ongoing debate at school it may be possible to gain all those things if they were to change our five school days into four school days with longer hours. Most of the benefits given may seem quite appealing as of this moment but there are the reasons not to vote four day. A very simple reason not to vote four day is just because there's no need absolute need to change it even if four day is better almost
Have you ever wanted to have shorter school days? Well I have, I want shorter school-days because having practice earlier in the day will not be so tiring, there would be so much more free time to do other activities and there would also be more time to finish homework. These are the reasons why students at HHS should have shorter school days. Having shorter school days will help students succeed educationally.
How can school days benefit kids? Some beliefs on why school days should be longer is for a variety of reasons, kids struggling and kids being able to ask question. I also think school days should be longer because you can get more things done over the course of the school day. This could be helpful because it would only add like a couple minutes to each class. Kids could get their homework done also and could get more help. The second reason is that in an hour short school day we don't get enough time to ask questions. With longer school days we could add ten minutes a day just to ask questions if kids are confused or don't understand how to do something. We could also not cram in everything and get kids confused and it could help them
Homework. When students have too much homework it can cause them to have stress. When students have a lot of homework it cuts into their free time. When students have too much homework it has no point and it makes kids bored. Limiting the amount of homework given to students does guarantee better grade, reminding one that student need to see the value in school.
Many of us have said that there is not enough time in a day for work, activities, and school. What if the school days were extended to incorporate more time for learning? Several schools throughout the nation are debating whether they should have longer school days or if we should keep the current school days the same. The school’s most important goal is to enhance the knowledge of students so that they will know what to do in their future. Therefore, lengthening the school days will give teachers more time to focus on weak areas, more difficult materials, and allow teachers more time to spend with students. One important reason that schools believe that an extended day would work best is it would allow the school day to include subjects such
“Maltese and his colleagues pointed out that if high school teachers most nights assign just one hour of homework, that amounts to about 180 class periods of 50 minutes apiece. Essentially, they noted, an hour of homework each night adds another class period to the school day.”("Schools Ditching Homework.."All these middle and high school students have to get all these done it doesn’t seem that hard of a task to do put still but’s pressure on the kids. The parents get frustrated because their kids can’t do family time because their kids have a stack of things to do that's in their back packs. It also cause problems at home as a teacher says in
Kids need more time to be kids and be more around family instead or having to do homework all of the time. Most kids spend about 2-3 hours doing homework and not with family or friends according to, Is Too Much Homework Bad for Kids' Health? Students do tons of homework that it is causing most parents to say that they only get to see their children during dinner time or they might not even be able to go to dinner because they just want to be done with homework. As Kamala Nair said to prove that parents mostly see their child during dinner time or not at all is in t To add on, because these kids are spending much time on homework, it is causing them to go to bed late, when you go to bed late but wake up early in the morning you are probably going to be tired, and when you are tired, it is most likely going to be hard to concentrate which can lead to bad grades. In this case too much homework can actually cause bad grades and, not help your children witht the things you may not know.
